Im lost

ok im starting a grow area in the top of my closet at the moment i have
1) a show light with 2 fluorescent lights ( 3400 lumes each 40 watts 3000k)
2) 1 small weed plant (species unkown)
3)a clamp light with a 2000 lumes 30 watt so a total of 8800 lumes on 1 plant

heres my questions im in veg state running lights at 18/6
1) do i have enough light
2) when i go to flower will a 400 watt Metal Halide light plus shop light be enough
3) where can i get a cheap ph tester
4) does the plant look ok?
5)how long to veg

How far are your lights?


That should be enough, I used 4 26w cfls for mine under a reflector. if u have an MH y dont u use it for veg.....thats what they're mostly used for..but flower can be done at anytime...i usually let mine get to at least 8-10inchs before flowering. Ur plants looks really streched and can use a transplant and that stem buried. So for the next week, u need to transplant into a bigger pot, bury the stem. Put that mh on it at 18/6 or get a reflector for ur floros

my camera suck the new area im growing in is all white around it i have the lights about 4 and 1/2 in away i have been growing that plant for about 3 weeks now but i dident find this site till resently so now i got it on 18/6 i cant buy the mh bulb yet gota wait till friday and the medium i have it planted in is a chia pet growing spounge so im not sure how to transplant

u mean one of those clay things? if its just an "sponge" u can just place it in the pot and fill with dirt. Once u get more cash or something look into an hps conversion bulb for ur mh ballast. Next time just go straight with dirt, its easier.

Dont use a mh for veging? That is what ya use. hps for flowering. Both will work start to finish. Transplant into some good soil soon like he said.

would let vegg for at least 3 more weeks ,,,, can get 26 W 6500K cfl;s from walmart ( daylight color) ,,, can get a hps from home depot for 50 $ i have a 70W hps from HD & works well ,,, can get ph tester with ph up & down , from walmart for 12$ ,,,

Is nirvana a good site to buy from and whats good if so (i live in the morman state in the USA)
im not sure if the sponge will breakup if i put it in a bigger pot with like mirical grow
the lights i got at walmart same with the shop light got the highst one there which was 3400 lumes each 2nd best was their growing bulb with 1700 lumes i got a total of 8800 lumes on it if my camera was shitty i would take a pic of it but i cant too bright for it

ya nirvana is good....but before u plant the seed ur about to buy i would really do 1 more grow with some bagseed or sumthing free to practice,,,u wouldnt wanna drop 40 bucks and not get the most out of it....imo

ya funny thing is most the weed i get from freinds has no seeds
so i got no way of getting seed besides buying online was thinking droping 23 for jack horror since its on sale. is it good weed?

what does the ph tester look like

and by the sounds of it all i need now for a small grow is
1) ph tester
2)hps bulb and mh bulb (what do i need to use those the clamp light i got is normal socket)
3)better medium
4) bigger transplant post
is that about right?

i think i can say by now i have no idea what im doing this is my first grow i tried reading grow faq but i have a hard time under standing it
thus the reason im looking for feed back and whats HPS

haha ya i had to read it again 2,,,i'm like i'm lost..

To use a MH or HPS bulb u need to get the ballast assigned to that bulb and wattage....so a 400w hps bulb will not work in a 400w MH ballas and vice versa...but what they do have is something called a conversion bulb which lets u use the conversion mh in the hps ballast or the conversion hps in the mh ballast..... Just go with soil for ur medium...its less harsh to u when u miss a day or 2, I would go wit a 1.5-3 gallon pot when u transplant...take into account ur space...if u have limited space then a gallon pot should be fine.

whats a good way to get seeds cheap beside internet
is there anything else i need to know for growing becouse by the sounds of it its more of a waiting game and lota money lol all i need to buy now is a ph tester fert and the hps and mh bulb. at flowering should i just use the hps and shop lights?

are u just buyin the bulb?...they wont work in a reg. socket. a good way to get seeds is to go and buy a bag of schwagg.....u'll usually get a minimum of 20 seeds. flowering just use the hps.

ok how much am i looking at for about a 250-400 watt mh ot hps system cuz i am on a budget. ya i could probly get some seeds off my freind hes a huge pot head and buys alot of schwagg (like his whole pay check) so i bet i could get it off him... thinking back on it i think that where i got the seeds i got now o and i took so meassurement of my grow area i got 49" wide anbd maby a 1' 1/2. and whats the risk of getting seeds deliverd to my home (through internet)

THAT STINKS i was transplantin plant took out of old clay pot put in a 1 gallon pot but when i took the growing spunge out a very strong smell of rotton eggs came out too was it just cuz i think i was over wattering bottom quarter of pot was full of water or was it the sponge

It might be root rot... all the hps' are around 135-160 for a reg. ballast. digitals are more. ya get some seeds from him....they'll work...all of my grows have been bagseed....

well the roots looked healthy even if they were all at the bottom spoaking in the water. i think the smell was coming from the water after the plant was moved it remined me alot of what like a pond smells like without fresh water circulating and there was white algi stuff floating around evereywhere and i couse see old seed that dident sprout were rotting as well ass moss growing on the spounge lol i think i just let it sit there too long witout care
