I'm planning an auto grow - what size pot and soil to use?

Hi all, I'm planning an auto grow garden. Being raised on a farm in south Alabama, I have a rudimentary skill for growing other stuff, mostly garden crops.

I have 2 size's of pots to grow in, both are fabric and they are either 5 or 1 gallon. I'm looking for advice on which size is best to grow an auto outdoors.
Also, I want my soil to be something like a Fox Farm Happy Frog product, which I heard about through another thread, but it does not necessarily have to be FF.

Opinions will be appreciated on both the size pot and soil.

Definitely 5 gallon.

For soil agreed with 5 gal. Also, give this a read.
