In California, are the Feds prosecuting small time growers?

So I live in California with my aunt and uncle. I finally asked whether or not I could grow at most 6 plants (for legal reasons of course). My aunt was worried about water usage because of the drought and I assured her it would be much at all. But she's a little sketched out knowing its not federally legal. So are the feds cracking down on small time growers like myself? She said theres a chance she could lose her house if I get caught or something like that. So is this type of stuff actually happening?

What can I say to her to ease her mind about it all?

If you have some documentation and you keep it under 250 plants, the Feds will get really pissed off at the local cops for bringing them in on such small time bullshit and wasting their time.

So unless your mama is running serious weight (in the hundreds of keys), I'd say you have nothing to worry about.

In my area of the North Bay, even local cops won't bother someone with the default state limit of 6 plants, let alone the Feds, they have bigger fish to fry. The exception would be if a neighbor complained of the smell or something else that would require the police to show up. Even if, like myself, you let your recommendation lapse, you could get one if you are cited and I'd bet it would be dismissed. At least, that's my thinking. Check your City/County regulations, some are banning outdoor growing. My biggest fears are from mold and caterpillars.

Federal fears should be low for small time growers. Code compliance and rippers are my main concern this season.
Code compliance is only a concern if there are complaints.

I'd be real concerned about rippers- no telling what someone might do while in the midst of trespassing and committing a felony (theft of a controlled substance).

My area has banned outdoors so I do have to worry about anything that would draw attention to them. With dogs in all surrounding yards as well as mine I am not too worried about rippers but I am staying vigilant. :)

Good on Ya. I hear lots of stories... none of them I want to star in.

This is wrong. There's been a couple guys up in Butte County this year that got nailed and charged federally, one had like 130, and the other was like 140. Anything over 99 will bring the shit storm of the feds on you

I'm supposed to inherit 10 acres of land in Colorado. Too bad its FEDERAL land, which means I can't use it to grow on or inside a dwelling built on this land from a legal standpoint until the feds get smart and decide they want a piece of the tax pie on marijuana sales and get enough support to pass laws to legalize it and tax it. I mean I could use the land to grow but it wouldn't be legal in the eyes of the feds who are the ones enforcing and policing on federal land.

Fresno will. Other than that you're fairly safe under 99. I know in la you're suppose to have 5'x5' for each outdoor plant you grow though, don't know if that's changed.

It only takes 12 plants and 6 pounds to get federally charged in Cali . Big grows are always a risk. But in all if they want to fuck with you they will . They can find something to make it non legally pretty fast. I only do a couple for personal use ..
