infrared light from security camera

I'm in the process of starting my first outdoor grow in a greenhouse and want to put a security camera inside but I'm afraid the infrared light will mess with the plants, anyone have any info on the topic?

Not a myth. For months every plant I put along the side wall hermied and hermied bad. Then, one day, I was just standing there looking at the plants, and it hit me. The light on my heater, 1500w Pelonis oil filled radiator (so totally run of the mill, Walmart, special), would shine every time the heater ran. And what was right up against the side wall? The heater.

I then taped over the light, and have been hermie free since. I haven't done anything differently to my plants either. It was most definitely that light.

digi thermox2 -green
light cotroller-green
dehuey-red
c02 meter=red
c02 timer-red
day night controller=red
security camsx2=bright red
ceiling vent-residual t5 11 feet up-white
robo vac-red and green, works all night and day

I think my little lights may actually keep my plants from confusion

I have infrared cameras in my greenhouse and they do not cause any issues. Happy growing!

Infrared cameras don't emit infrared they detect it.
Depends on the camera. Some cams like night vision are infrared sensors. Typical security cams (like the one in my grow room) are illuminating. Of the several hundred cams I’ve installed all are illuminators.

Yep, and this comes down to quality IR filters fitted over the IR Led emitters.
Cheap camera, cheap filter, cheap leds, there will be problems if the camera is within several feet. Further away to cover entrances etc should be fine .
Just don't aim it at the plant or keep it well back. If your cam lights up like the Eye of Ra, then the plant can see it also.

I wonder just how much and how long and what frequency etc really does matter? I’ve checked my plants in the dark with flash lites looking for deer or ??? Never had any issues? Lite leaks int growrooms from 60 watt incandescent bulbs? Do they really have enough jam gleaming through a pinhole to herm or set off flowering? I doubt it pretty seriously but ???

Deer, incandescents, jam thru a pinhole?
Huh? What frequency you on? This is IR and red being mixed , not jello.

Just turn off the IR emitter for the cams so they can be close, and get a IR flood light with a decent filter that you mount further away so that any visible red won't bother the plants.

You can get cams with good filters and emitters, they just cost as as much as 5 of the cheap ones.

No I mean the same for the tiny amount of infrared a camera might emit? Same thing- is it really enough to trip up a plant? Likely not. But ??? Be worth an experiment or three.

Back when I was thinking about starting my first outdoor grow in a greenhouse I was also thinking about it. I was afraid that the security camera would actually mess all the things up. However a lot of specialists told me that it is a myth, it has got nothing to do, especially if you use a proper camera like the wyze cam, that does not really have a long range wifi acces. I still remember that one guy told me that he has got more than 6 cameras in there and everything is just fine. Moreover, I still remember the link that he sent to me, he just told me click here and choose a podcast camera if you are afraid of those security cams.
