I must say, these DIY COBs are much more involved than I initially planned. Frame is finally done, and I'm about halfway done with wiring. Pictures to come when done hopefully by next weekend.

Also trying to keep this somewhat tidy, so my OCD is making this take much longer than it should.

What is the main difference between the Citizen 1812 3500k 80cri and Citizen 1818 3500k 80cri? Or would the 90cri version be a better choice to use.

at a given wattage, 1818 is a few % more efficient. at a given current, 1212 is a little more efficient than that

I'm about to wire an extension cord to my meanwell drivers. How do I keep tension off of the connectors? I don't want anything to pull apart from the weight of the wire over time

What threads do the heatsinks use? I think I need to find some longer ones

M3 screws 6mm length works for cob holder and reflector adaptors. The four that are drilled into the side of the heat sink are bigger not sure what size them are.

Do what cobkits mentioned or just tie a knot in the cord and lock in place with zip ties all kinds of ways to do it don't have to be fancy.

Lowes has 16/3 stranded wire for like 40 some odd cents a foot and nice male plug ends for like 3 bux but for like 6-7 bux you can have a real nice durable power cord

Don't use the 18 gauge lamp wire from lowes when you go to pull the two strands apart it rips the insulation on one wire. Cobkits is looking into getting some single solid 18 gauge wire for us to use

Hmm, I use 14 gauge romex for bjb holder's, it's a snug fit but it has worked better than anything else I've tried.

some bjbs take 1.0mm wire, most (all the ones i sell) take 0.75 and cant fit over 18 GA

i like putting a probe down the center pins on the back of the heatsink to where it touches the base plate on the sink.if the sink is near horizontal and its a good probe its pretty accurate imo.
