Is Crosby's Fancy Molasses alright?

Morning, all! I know most people who add molasses to their water during the last few weeks of flowering use "unsulphered" "blackstrap" types, but I could find neither word on the carton I purchased. The ingredients are solely "Fancy Molasses (100% Sugarcane Juice)." It seems to have a good amount of phosphorus and additional minerals usually found in good potting soil so all seems well. From what I've read I've decided to add 1 tablespoon/gallon of water every watering. I'm on day 22 of 12/12. Anyone think this type of molasses would do more harm than good? Suggestions on the dosage? Thanks in advance!:weed:

I should add - 1 topped plant about 6" tall w/8 23 watt CFLs in soil. I water every 48-72 hours depending on how the plant looks/feels when lifted and temps. I plan on using 1 tbsp/gal for weeks 4 and 5, bumping it up to 1.5 tbsp/gal for weeks 6 and 7 and finally 2/gal for weeks 8 and 9. May flush with water only in the last week, we'll see how the next few weeks grow;) Thanks again!

Cool. I just found a great article here. It gives the Nutrition Facts of what I'm assuming they consider to be ideal. The amount of Potassium, Iron and Magnesium is considerably lower in what I've got going on, haha! I'm going to look around town for an alternative before using what I've got. I may also double up my existing recipe to 2 tbsp/gal to start!

No I use Black Strap sorry, try it and if you have a clipping from the same plant do a side by side comparison. One with & one without

Just use 1 or 2 tbsp per gallon every other watering

ahh kk yeah, i got myself some crosby's blackstrap but upon further reading on it i see it has sulphur in it and the crosby's fancy doesnt so i donno what to do maybe jus try out the fancy.

Don't use any molasses that's sulphered, it will kill your plant. I bought Brer Rabbit Unsulphered Molasses on my local Target for like $3.50.

Anyone have any luck with Crosby's Fancy Mollasses???
you have probably already finished using the mollasses but for everyone else. yes crosby's fancy mollasses works well ive used it in promix with no trouble and im goin to try it out in dwc with piranha and tarantula (god sends!!! no bacteria or mold issues even with high temps and tons of sugars, and it takes the stress out of trying to be really sterile).

If you go to crosby's website you will find this:

" Crosby Molasses Company Limited does not add sulfur or any if its derivatives to any molasses products. However, Blackstrap and Cooking molasses do contain small amounts of sulfites which occur naturally."

anyway it doesn't sound like they use SO2 in there process. the blackstrap and cooking molasses contain natural sulphur not added or excess and the Fancy contains no sulphur at all. at least this is how i interpreted it.

so i assume the natural sulphur in blackstrap is not of concern as ive been told it is best one to use. what is it about sulphured molasses that makes it bad for plants is it toooo much sulphur or something else that occurs because of the SO2 proccessing (acidity, chemical bonding???).

I would like to know the same thing; Does the "natural occurring sulfur" in Crosby's black-strap molasses pose a threat to our plants? Or is it only if there's "additional sulfur added" that we run into problems?

Thanks

Fancy table molasses is obtained from the second extraction of the sugar refining process. It is reddish brown in colour and has a moderately sweet and tangy flavour. It is unsulphured although naturally occuring sulphur may be present. Fancy table molasses is sweeter than blackstrap molasses. Molasses can be used as a natural colourant, sweetener or as a thickening agent. It is often found in baked beans, barbeque sauces, meat sauces, brown or specialty breads, mincemeat, table syrup and confections. May contain milk, eggs, soy and/or wheat.

It is the Sulphur "Dioxide" you must worry about as it kills the good micro ogranisms. Small amounts of naturally occurring is fine, and beneficial.
