Is it time to switch to cure?

By girls have been hang drying from their stems for 4 days and the outsides are starting to feel dry and a bit crispy (not crumbly).

Temps vary between 17.7c to 21c with the average being 19.8c. the rh is between 44% - 55%.

The stems are still bendy and not snappung. am i better off curing early and seeing if they sweat a lot or just be patient and have faith?!?!

Your temps and rh% are good! I agree with Shrubber but I also go by the stem. It will crackle when you bend it but not snap. Most of my flower is ready for the jar after 5 days in the conditions you describe.

I would jar it after 5 days and it should not "sweat" at all, if it does it is WAY TOO WET! I also get small hygrometers and place them in my jar(s) to track temp and rh% in the jar.

You will be able to feel the moisture in the flower after they have been in the jar for 48 hrs.(That outer dry crispy feeling will have gone away) Open em up for an hour, seal em up wait another 48 open and let em air...rinse and repeat.

Curing is a process and takes time, at least 30 days

Cheers

Thanks for the advice. i chopped from stem, curing jars are around 68% after 24hrs so about right i think?

6zips off 4 autos under 250w hps and 180w of cfl - im happy with that. now hopefully the cure will get that flavour going!

Rh is going up over 70%. smelling very fresh still. Been airing the buds again and burping twice a day. i assume the smell will come through after a few weeks too.

Ok....at 70+% rh take the buds out and let em air for 24 hrs.

That should get you back to 65+%. Anything 70 and above and you risk molding. Not too bad at 70 but that gives you some flexibility.

Yes the terpene profiles will come on more after proper RH is achieved and the cure process starts to happen.

Just make.sure your RH is 70 or below.

Are you using quart size Mason jars? What temps are they showing in the jars. Mine are usually about 65* stored on the floor of my bedroom closet.

I.assume with 6 oz's and if you are using quart Mason jars you have about 4 jars holding an average of 1.5 Oz per jar?

This is similar to the one I use in my jars...just one for several.jars to get a base reading.

Ive got 5 jars. 3 are quart size, one is a bit bigger and the others in between. they are loosely packed about 2 3rds full. th inside is measured using a mates reader for his reptile tank. the temp is probaybly around 18c

I fill mine up...about 90% full leaving just enough room at the top for air space.

18c is a good temp...mainly try to make your starting rh 65% opening twice a week for an hour and as the rh percentages lower then lengthen the time in between burping to once a week, once every two weeks until you hit 55% rh where the curing process stops and you can store for extended periods with no problems

That looks glorious! this is mine at the moment.....jars are reading 65%ish now.

It was real crystally when i trimmed and has gone quite dull looking now, although my fingers smell amazing when i touch it. hoping the cure will bring that bag appeal back.

If I can make a humble suggestion, trim the fans closer to the main stalk. Might take a bit of contortionist skill to get those tucked within dense flowers, but your end result will always look fantastic, plus you remove those pieces that brown and invite the decomposition which can lead to rot.

I like the small trimmer scissors with a slight bend at the tip (that's what she said) so you can really get in close and do a nice manicure.

Totally agree with you. some are closely trimmed, some not so much. im probably going to take your advice and go even closer on all of them.

Looks good and can look.even better and will help.with cure and RH levels.if you follow Cannabruhs humble suggestion.

For Bag appeal, nicely trimmed flowers are the best. I am to rather picky about my trim and that is a whole 'nother book of opinions.
.
I wet trim myself and touch up after dry and before jarring for cure!

So 2 weeks on the rh seems good. finally at 65% range. no mould and hopefully curing now. i smoked 1 zoot with it today and its quite bitter and gives a weird lumpy feeling in the back of the throat. holefully this will go with time.

The smell isnt very strong until you grind it up.

Good job! You are in the cure zone now! Open the jar once a week for an hour or so...

It is a time process...The aroma and flavors will develop over that time. Mine do smell as I open the jar and I definitely get more detailed terpene notes and profile when freshly ground!

A properly grown, harvested ,dried and cured flower should leave a light airy whitish grey ash after burning and smoking !

Patience is a virtue!

Cheers and Merry Christmas

I didn't see this in a reply, so I'll just say, get some silica packets. you can get a ton on Amazon, and even at Walmart. put them in your cure jars and you won't have to worry about sweating if you're just a little bit early on the cure.
