Hi, i am using this lamp on the photo and a new 400w SON-T HPS bulb that i got from my friend but it's not making as much light as my friends 400W lamp, I noticed that my friends bulb is compleatly yellow when it is on and they have been in use for about 4 months but my bulb is only half yellow compared to my friends bulb. Is this because my ballast is metal-halide and my friends ballast is HPS? Isn't there a way to change my ballast to a HPS ballast with some different wiring or something? wtf is the difference between a metal-halide and a HPS? i thought all 400w ballast were the same? Do i need to buy a better ignitor?

You have a Halide ballast that's been rewired to run HPS with an ignitor added apparently. Your bulb has part of the energy going to a blue spectrum element, so it's not suprising that it doesn't look as yellow or as bright but it's fine. There is nothing wrong with your modified halide ballast, but if your friend has a digital ballast that could also be a reason why his appears brighter. (because it is, especially on a digital ballast)
