Is this grow room tall enough?

Hello everyone, quick question:

Imagine a grow room area that is 32.5"w x 17.75"d x 34"h . If one were to use a DIY bubbleponics-type system that is 16" tall and a 400w HPS light, one would run into a problem with head room, no? Doesn't the light need to be like 30" or so from the plants?

Anyway to make this work or would I be looking at a 2-day veg cycle? (j/k btw)

I am thinking the only options for this to work are to find a new space or use CFLs

Any help is greatly appreciated!

well let's see here .... is the total 34" high? Or it the space left over after you subtract 16" for the bubbler and at least 12" for the light?

If you didn't subtract the 16" bubbler and the 12" for the light (that equals 28") then no way there is enough room.

I'm no expert but even if you have 34" of vertical growth (not counting a safe distance for the light) you will be cutting it close. You'll have to make sure your light has a glass cover and is air-cooled. you will want to keep the plants short and bushy - might want to look into short strains (like lowryder) or growing methods conducive to short spaces like SoG or SCRoG.

ScrOG it, man! My space is a bit taller than yours, (I think it is about 45") and I never though I would be able to grow in it. But now, I am about 2 weeks away from harvest with my 400W HPS. Look into ScrOG, and I think it will be the way you find success. Oh, I would abandon DWC, though. Hydro setups take some vertical space; and you don't have any to spare. Get yourself some soil. Also, vent the hell out of it.

thanks for the advice but I am not quite ready to give up my newly-made hydro system! My husband and I are going to work on creating another space this weekend. If we can't make the taller space work, I will definitely take your advice!
