Is this mold, spidermites or something else?

So I picked up an ounce of some amazing amnesia haze last week, it's some of the best bud I've smoked, I have went through 8 grams in the past week.

Today I turned my volcano on and waited for it to heat up, while I picked the fattest most dense bud I could find in my mason jar.
I cracked the bud in half to grind, only to find a strange foriegn white hair/fluff like substance on the inside of the bud.

I have attached a few pictures I took with my phone through my pocket microscope.
I have checked every single other bud in the jar by eye and with my microscope and can't find anymore of the same hairs, what could this be is it mold? Spider mites web? Something else?

And what possible damage could I have done vaping the 8 grams and is the rest safe to smoke?

I hate to tell you this but it looks like mold, I personally wouldn't smoke that shit. Get some other opinions before you make a decision.

Looks like mold or mite Web...
I agree. Doesn't seem like there'd be a mite web in the middle of the nug but that is kind of what it looks like. Personally I wouldn't be too alarmed, if you see any more just cut around it. Save any contaminated nug so you can ask for an exchange if that's possibility for you.

Is there anyway to confirm it is powdery mildew and not one of the more harmful types of mold?

I have considered doing an ethanol extraction and filtering through 0.2um stringer filters to remove any mold and spores.

But I wouldn't even consider it as an option unless I could confirm it is a type of mold that does not produce alfatoxins as they can not be removed via filtering.

Chop that shit sterilize and start over
Unfortunately this was weed I bought not grew, and i paid quite a high price as well, as it is amazingly dank....Well except for the moldy bud.
I can't grow because I live in the united kingdom, and have previous convictions for cannabis, which would mean a jail sentence if I was caught growing.

sure, could wrap up 3 more grams of it, mail it to a testing lab and pay their fees, come on now....bring your magnifying glass next time

It might be ok to make into edibles But you would still be eating bug poop and castings looks like spider mite webbing to me

Look into bud washing not sure how it works with it being dried and cured already but if you are really hurting you can research and maybe give it a shot.

I wouldn't be able to do that because nowhere in the UK will test cannabis as it's illegal.

What I meant was, I have searched multiple post's on different forums and websites and have found no pictures relating to the different forms mold that grow on cannabis, so I was wondering if anyone knew any ways to tell the difference between the structures of the different types of molds.

certainly if you are concerned for health a beginners guide to visual recognition of deadly molds might not be best to subscribe to if you plan on inhaling aye?

I know where your coming from, looks like the best place for it is in the trash, I'm obviously unable to make a definitive identification of the type of mold on the bud due to my lack of mycology experience, if it is any form of mold that produces alfatoxins they can't be removed via heat or filtering, and it's just a risk I'm not willing to take to be honest.

exactly, we're on the same page = dont smoke molds you cannot positively identify.
I wouldnt even care, I'd toss it in the compost and carry your magnifying lens future purchases

Since its the only one like that, throw it out, pour out what you have left, give it a good drying.
Yes I have already done that, I separated the contaminated bud and left the rest it of dry more, I also placed a few silica gel moisture absobers in my jar to make sure bud dries completely.

I know mold usually develops in the centre of the bud first and this was the densest bud that I found the mold in, it was still quite sticky in the middle.

There was no mold on the surface of the bud and only a tiny bit inside the centre of the bud that was bearly visible to the naked eye, it was cracked open away from the non contaminated bud so in hoping it wasn't able to spread any spores on to the rest of it, I still don't think I'll be smoking it, but I might consider edibles, I'm planning on keeping it in the jar and inspecting it in a week or two to see if it has developed anything similar, and make my decision from there.

not all molds begin in the centre of the bud first. Leaves and surfaces are often attacked by mildews before inside of buds are affected? If its still has improper humidity it will surely mold, try drying it rather than jarring it maybe if so?
this mold is everywhere, inside of the bag your buds came in even, all over the place. I hate mold, sorry this happened to you
