Is this plant ready to chop ?

hello friends

i am new to this forum as well as the hobby. cannabis was recently legalized in my area and i love growing things. i am here seeking advice on a critical point of the grow....

there are very few amber trichs appearing about 5% on the buds and slightly more on the sugar leaves. the plant is only drinking ~25% of what it was during peak flowering. However there is a large number of white hairs throughout the lower canopy. The larger tops actually seem to be producing new white hairs (see pic 2)

I would like to harvest soon to make room in the tent but i don't want to rush it after all the hard work.

Looks close, i prefer when it swells up and darkens a bit more and depending on your strain/phenotype that could be 1-3 weeks away. What are you growing? Do you have a loupe/microscope?

yea i ended up chopping off the top colas that night and it's been drying past few days. it's definitely active but i feel i should have listened and waited. the high is great since it's a strong indica strain so the lighter trichs kind of balances it out but i think the yield and smell suffered from chopping early...

I only chopped a few oz off and left all the lower branches that night. they stalled for a couple days after this but now they are drinking again and reflowering (new white pistil development all over the plant, no nanners but still checking daily)

I think it will take another 3-4 weeks for the rest of the plant to fully mature (would have been less if i just left the damn thing alone) but i learned my lesson and will ride the rest of this plant and future flowers out as long as they will let me

Depends on personal preference. 5% amber trichs is definitely choppable. I cant see it needing another 3-4 weeks myself but each to their own.

It also depends on what you are using it for. I just cut a good amount of early bud for cooking. I've found earlier cut 'especially indica's can be a more functional pain relevance for during the day hours where as a longer finished Indica will have a serious couch lock sleepy effect.

Yeah chopping half or more during late flower can stunt it for a few days, that's normal for most strains.

Don't feel bad though because when growing from seed you never really know what your missing out on without chopping that same pheno at different days. Some plants taste better when left longer, some plants taste like shit when left too long ect...

Yea this was a free seed packaged with some blueberry i ordered. none of the premium blueberry thrived indoors so i planted this along side some bagseed. the bud it came from was incredible and of course all the seeds were females (red flag) and they all popped nanners by week 6. this girl was the last one left standing. i've got about 3 oz dry off her so far. we'll see how much more development i can squeeze out of the lower branches.

They were far more immature than the tops due to the poor light penetration of LEDS. I hadn't prepared for this correctly (I have a SCROG setup for my next round) This is part of why I ended up cutting the tops - i knew it was at least a week early but i figure i can let these girls go for 4 more weeks (1 week to recover from stress, 2 weeks to catch up to where the top colas were at and then 1 week to finish them properly) . I don't have anything else to flower under the light anyway and the plant still fills up the light. If I'm lucky I can get another 4-6 oz off her (not bad for a 2 gallon pot)
