Jd Shorts F5 Blueberry Backcross

Hi, nice to finally be here. I just wanted to start a thread and 'show my' work so to speak. Im Jd Short, Dj Short's son, and a next world breeder. The response to my Whitaker Blues and Azure haze has been nothing short of absolutely heartwarming.

I am now currently working on making another strain available from Dj's Blueline. This will not be an outcross like my previous two breeding projects. I'll be selecting an f5 that has the desirable traits Im looking for and then backcross it with an unspecified male within Dj's stock. I'm super excited about the potential of this strain and you should too.

The first pic is about three weeks in veg and the second one form the other day when I topped em. I'll attempt to keep everyone here posted upon my progress and pheno selection.

Thanks, and take care.

Dude, What happened to the Blueberry. I had some dutch passion's Blueberry back in 2002 and none of the blueberry that I've seen since is even comparable, whether it was Dj's beans or other people's beans. I was a rookie back when I had those original beans and had two females with the twisted leaf, purple/blue/red hues, taste like fruity pebbles cereal and extremely potent; and 1 pheno that grew huge, stayed green, and had a nice taste great potency.

None of that is now available. I've since tried dutch passion twice and no dice and the reports I've read and growers that I know that have ran Dj's beans say the same, no dice, not even a keeper in several packs. And at $125+ US, that's ridiculous.

I'm not trying to hate but I'm dying to have that old blueberry back. And no fooling it looked like the old promo picture.
You offer this blueberry again and I'll be first in line.

Man does that suck ass big time. I'd a been pissed man for sure. Shorts beans are anything but cheap. I've been very curious about his strains but I don't care to run regs anymore, and they were a little pricey for me.
First I've heard of something like that though, obviously somethings wrong there to get nuthin from any of 'em.

im guessing the seeds were old, the seed co i bought them through couldnt replace them but gave me an equal value of different seeds..but i really wanted that original dj blue berry..i grew bc bud depot blue berry and it wasnt what i expected..im afraid to spend more money on the dj blue berry even though i really,REALLY want to try it!!

1-5$ seeds will be the new model soon enough
Naw, not with people actually paying these high prices. I mean some of the cats on RIU are spending top $$$ on anything that certain breeder's are releasing. I've seen cats say they've spent $30-$40 per bean on those dumb ass auction sites. Fuck that.

Supply and demand. They supple a "limited" number of seeds on purpose in order to "justify" those $10-$20 dollar per seed prices and as long as people pay for them, it will keep happening.

Cheers.

that "limited" bullshit is a scam, your def right. as long as people pay, theyll be stocked at high prices. but the quality beans for cheap are popping up more n more.

...lol. I haven't even checked in here for a bit cause there really didn't seem to be much interest originally. And the only reason I actually caught this was cause I had a push notification sent to my email account.

So first off, thanks all for the comments and replies. I wish I could say the undertone of the comments here were a little kinder, but I've seen the industry enough to understand what this is all about.

Lemme just say this first, my product and my father's product clearly speaks for itself. They are some of the most sought after genetics for a reason. I'd suggest that any of you wasting you time and breath bashing them go spend your time doing something a little more constructive that serves you and your communities a little better. You're wasting my time here and you're wasting your own time. Anyone paying attention already knows what my fathers and soon to be my work is worth.

Second, sucks to hear about seeds not popping. The strange thing for me and everyone else I know who's popped the seeds is that we've all gotten better than 90% success rate, even on seeds as old as 5-8 years. And we all know Dj's seeds don't sit on the shelf that long...so, sorry about your germ rates. I suggest speaking with the shop you got them from and asking how they store and receive their seeds. Also, I want to be clear that we all know Dj's gear is some of the most counterfeited and ripped off gear there is, so please....make certain that you are directing your complaints at the right breeder and not just the breeder everyone has been ripping off for years.

And lastly, the backcross is still in the works, as well as many potential outcrosses. I've selected the f5 pheno's. 4 at least and perhaps 5. Here are a few pics of those. As far as to whether or not I'll be back to share anymore pics or words, that will remain to be seen, as I will assess if my presence here is even wanted first. There are plenty of playgrounds to play on boys. If you don't want me here, I'll gladly go somewhere else.
Peace.

Personally I'd love to see this work. I havn't ran any of DJ's work yet, but its been on my list for a long time. I just don't buy many seeds, so it hasn't happened....YET.

I 2nd this!

Dont let the amateur hour peanut gallery here dissuade you from dropping any knowledge and experiences you'd wish to share Jd. Might want to transfer your posts to the breeders section, you would probably get a better response there. Until then Im subbed up to this thread so I hope you keep it going.

I want some! I have wanted some for awhile but not available anywhere. It's also true what these peeps have said though, paying 100$ for 10 seeds and you MIGHTY find the Pheno you want is not fun. Even though this is true, I would love some real blueberry, so please stay!

I really think its funny when people complain about seed prices. LEARN HOW TO GROW guys. I've been growing for 10 years, and can honestly say the few times beans havn't popped it was probably at least 50% my fault. Typically I have 90%+ germination on every batch of beans I've cracked over the years. There is always a chance a bean won't pop, which is why I try to buy multi-packs of seeds when I do buy them.

$10 a seed is nothing for the ability to get on the internet pick out the genetics you want and have that seed sent wherever you choose. That seed then has the ability to be grown to produce a value with limitless potential.

Lets try an example..... You payed $100 for a 10 pack.
You suck at growing so only 4 germinate.
Of those 4 you find a decent female plant so you clone it.
Hopefully by this point you've learned how to grow so you can stop blaming others for failures.
Now you have spent $100 and have a nice plant that you will be able to keep forever if you learn how to grow.
If you sell your crop then you will be recouped the 100 after the first harvest. If you just smoke your crop then your whole harvest cost you $100 plus other supplies, not to damn bad unless you still suck at growing and didn't harvest $100 worth of herb.

FYI this post isn't directed at any person in particular so please don't bother to get upset.

Well I hope it is much more stable than the current DJ Short strains.
Last few I have grown from DJ Short (which has been atleast 5 years) it wasnt worth my time or effort.
Not one plant came out the same and not a single decent Blueberry pheno out of a pack.
I just figured that DJ made a name when there was very little competition and now that there are so many breeders he is on the low end of quality breeding.
