Just Starting Out

Hi all,
what a great site, I have just purchaced a auto pot 6 pot system,600 watt light 4 inch extractor and i am in the starting blocks.
I will be growing in soil and would just like to ask what plant i should use for starters and should i use clones or start from seed.
Also i am looking to purchase a growing book just brush up on what i already think i no and also for quick reference whilst im growing.

the problem with clones vs seeds is... unless u know someone currently growing, its hard to get clones, easy to get seeds- so starting out for that reason alone I would go with seeds. Now that being said all things considered, if you have access to clones I would still start of with seeds for your 1st grow then take clones from your 1st grow. Its almost easier IMO to start a seed than to get a clone rooted (unless you have a ez cloner or something of that nature).

BTW to make sure you are on the right track what kind of 600W light do u have?

Its a 600 watt hid lamp with a balast.

Yes i can get clones and my friends prefer to grow using clones because they say it saves time and less messing about.

yes it does save time assuming you dont get a diseased plant you are cloning from and it doesnt destroy your whole crop. Unfortunatly but fortunatley I have switched to autos so dont have the liberty of cloning anymore but with a cloner its much easier and faster and u can almost garuntee roots.... if you are using a rooting powder and soil Id reccommend just seeding or try both and see which one takes off 1st.

What kind of HID (MH, HPS...etc) What kind of ballast (Magnetic... Electric...Digital...etc)
