Just gives me a good excuse not to go there. If I have to I'll be packing my laptop and phone in my luggage not carry-on. If you're driving you're screwed and will just have to refuse and turn around. it's easy enough to lie about whether you ever smoked pot.

But they're warning about US customs asking for your personal passwords on phones and laptops, they can actually do that. My answer is simple, f*k off, where's the turn around lane?

I have zero interest in going down to that country.
Nor do I since that "T" word became POTUS. But I do business there and have to from time to time, plus have a brother and sister living there who I like to visit once in a while. Although, I've told both of them. I was there in February and it's their turn to come home and visit us until that idiot gets impeached.

I don't know about you Canucks, maybe they like to fuck with Canadiens, but I crossed the border in August coming home with a quarter zip in my fishing gear. I went into Quebec (nice place) with a 1/2 oz. On the way back, no dogs, didn't say shit about my phone or computer, (the line was backed up), and sailed across.
But why would a Canadien want to go to this place in the 1st place.
Stay home, Canada is a much nicer place. :)

I have nothing good to say about the states border assholes. When I was 7 Many moons ago my grandma was traveling with us to the states. We hit the boarder crossing to head in and some robo boarder ass decided to rip my 70 year old grandmas bag apart actually dumped it all over the pavement and when he didn't find anything ( which we knew he wouldn't) he told her to clean the mess up. Mind you the Canadian boarder patrol aren't much better when it comes to manners lol

No Leniency for Canada From US Border Patrol

Despite the fact that Canadians trying to cross the U.S. border are being asked if they have ever smoked cannabis — resulting in a lifetime travel ban for some Canadians — Prime Minister Trudeau has no plans to request changes to that policy.

During a press conference in Ottawa on Tuesday, Canada’s leader said he will not address the issue with the U.S. government.

Currently, U.S. border guards can ask Canadians about their marijuana use and then deny that person entry for life based on their answers. This denial requires the traveler to apply for a waiver if they seek any future entry into the United States. The process is costly, time-consuming, and comes with no guarantee of success.

Trudeau has publicly admitted to smoking marijuana, but this admission has not interrupted the Prime Minister’s international travel.

“Canadians appreciate that we don’t let other countries or other leaders dictate who or how we let people into our country,” he said. “So I’m not going to tell Americans how to make decisions about who they let into their country either.”

Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale has gone on record calling the interrogation of Canadians at the U.S. border over pot use a “ridiculous situation.” Nevertheless, he emphasized that Canadians shouldn’t lie about using weed when asked by American authorities.

“If you’re crossing the border you’d be well advised to be forthright and honest in answering the questions of border officers whether you are moving from north to south or south to north,” said Goodale. “It is obviously critical to respect the border rules of the other country.”

Trudeau was questioned about Canadian’s privacy rights at the U.S. Border as well. This was after Canada’s Privacy Commissioner, Daniel Therrien, raised concerns that U.S. border guards can inspect phones as Canadians try to cross into the United States.

The Prime Minister skirted the issue by saying the Canadian government is constantly working with the United States on border patrol, as it is an essential part of the Canadian and U.S. economies.

“We’re always looking for ways to better protect Canadians and ensure both security and a smooth flow back-and-forth across the border,” said Trudeau. “Our economy, our country depends on it, and we are engaged on an ongoing basis in very detailed discussions with the Americans, every day, on how we improve the border

I will never visit the U.S. again....The place is too fucked up for me to fit in. Border agents can suck my hind tit. Fuckin goons...I've had incidents with US customs and you'd swear you were Bin Laden's room mate. Scariest ass holes I've ever dealt with. They hold ALL the cards and let you know it too. They can keep they're smug cop oriented jobs and i'll never bother the fuckers again. Un-human group of miserable bastards and bastard-ettes.

The only time its worth going there is when our currency was at parity or above. Then you could circumvent the crooked businesses that gouge people to death in Canada and get cars, clothes, electronics, etc at substantially less. Both my parents ended up paying something like $10,000 less each on their cars in that ~2007-2008 era. No surprise the PC government slapped on legislation soon after to prevent you from doing that after as car dealers complained. Go to Mexico with the rest of the Canadians during winter, it's way cheaper. And who ever tells border guards the absolute truth? Tell them what they want to hear and move on with your day.
