Keeping My Res Alive

So a couple years ago I started keeping a bubbling res to water my girls from. Thing is, I used to be in a much cooler climate. Now it seems like my res dies, going from sweet to poopy smelling, with just a couple days of a usable window. I have been mixing 20 gal or more at a time so it sucks when the bottom half of that gets tossed. Now, I know it's probably temp related (right) but are there any tricks, beyond a chiller to keep it alive and thriving? I am using EJ nutes and I typically add (veg room) grow, cat, some micros, and maybe some kelp. Would adding some extra catalyst at day 4 keep the microbes fed enough to keep the mix alive? Typically I just add solution fully mixed and bubble it, test PH until it's normal. Recently when I test at day 5 it's up 2 points from day 4! Soon after the shitty smell starts, it smells muddy and then turns like it's getting no air.

I had the same problem. I found by just simply making a smaller batch does the trick :)

Its usually the simplest things in life that works the best. Good luck

Yeah, that's what I am doing but it's lots of work.

I am out of here. I have been called too many names in too short a time. I am going where grownups learn and share information...

Either bury your res to control temps our add h2o2 and save money on beneficial life, the h2o2 will probably kill all that.

You might try freezing some large plastic water bottles and toss one in the res every day morning and night or buy a chiller.
