Killer cloner!

Imo you should have spray poping out of the holes without a net cup .

Unless you take bigger cutting that can reach down into the spray

Good job and good luck :)

Imo unless you have air flow or run sterile it can stagnate ....
But mine is almost air tight :)

Just cause the sprayers churn the water doesnt mean that its refreshing the air in the chamber .

Not arguing just sayin
Is there any other way than running sterile? :P

Nah, I get what you are saying but if you are not adding anything to keep it sterile, an air pump is not gonna stop slime after 2 weeks of the same water. Either dose it or dump the water weekly and all good.

Ive never ran sterile and only recently started running hydroguard (because i used bleach lol)

I do love the bleach smell if i add it to the cloner
(On occasion)

And i use my cloner for a veg setup somtimes to where they could be there for weeks i just top up.
And add nutes when i need too

But i hear ya differnt strokes for different folks

Can you guys give me some input on how you drain your reservoirs. I know it should be a common since question, but I feel I’m not quite doing it as efficiently as I could be doing it. This is the bal valve drain adapter setup I got this morning for like five bucks. I’m thinking of putting the L downward with the ball valve part inside the reservoir to control drainage. I’m a little bit of an over thinker if you haven’t noticed yet lol

Exactly same thing it adds air to the water before it sprays out .

With a pump it churns it enough just through the spraying i just added stones as i have a fuck tone of stones and little air pumps :)
But i threw the venturi away lol
Gotchya, appreciate your thoughts. I think I’m going to run an air stone since I too have several just laying around and an air pump that’s just collecting dust

Ball valves work great! I used many on my pump manifolds. You can also syphon the water, use a pump to drain the res, use a wetvac, or, if you decide to go with a small tote, it's easy enough to carry.

Yep drains are nice.

I found a hand water pump at hemp depot

It pumps a gallon in 4 strokes so i dont have to clean out my vacuum when i wana use it wet :)

I’m going to use this simple 2 part drainage on all my reservoirs. Cheap and water tight and easy as twisting a lever. Over the years I’ve learned so much about plumbing due to wanting to grow weed, it’s kinda cool how this hobby forces you to learn about electronics, water content, plumbing. I got my best plumbing knowledge when I installed an “easy” r/o system at my old house. Not so easy. Now I’m rambling.

I love working with pipes!

For draining the rez: Put a tee on the up pipe and run a section of pipe out the side of the tub thru a 2" hole, (Make sure it is above the water level Use foam pipe insulation section to seal the hole around the pipe) and put a ball valve on the outer pipe. When you want to drain, open the ball valve.

I think Stink Bud has the pix on his "How to grow a pound every three weeks" thread. Put a 1/2" PVC hose adapter on the pipe and you can connect a garden hose to run it out to a drain. Also makes it easy to get a sample to check PH and Nutes PPM if you grow to maturity in the tub. I grew 8X Super Lemon Haze in one tub ( actually 16 in two tubs) and never had a problem, except for leaks, until I adjusted the sprayer bar heights. I did have to build a PVC support cage to hold them up as they got 40-48" tall and the 2" net pots would tip over. Makes a nice closet grow set up.

You can use a cheap mechanical timer 15/15 min for the pump or a 1/5 min fancy timer, both work fine. Not much need for an air pump/stones as the sprayers oxygenate the water just fine.

Well, I’m testing the cloner out today. Some of The cuts are a little smaller than what I like to start with, but I couldn’t wait any longer to test this thing out. I will keep you guys updated on how they do. There is about 10 gal of adjusted r/o water in the reservoir: ph= 5.8 ec= 0.4. Ingredients that went into the water are calmag, rapid start, and a little bit of GH flora bloom. This has always proved to be a good mixture for cloning for me

I just used PH'ed tap water for cloning, worked well. My water is kinda hard and has cal/mag built in. Good tip on using an indoor/outdoor temp gauge with the outdoor sensor in the rez water.

I’m going to be making a bunch of little projects with pvc now that I bought a pair of pvc cutters. Wow, what a difference. It makes these projects fun when you can cut the pvc with ease. I used to avoid pvc bc I hated sawing
I use my cutters a lot, but they're notorious for cutting off-angle. If I've got a lot of pipes I'm cutting, or need precision, I use my mitre saw (chop saw). Any blade will work.

Those cuttings aren't small at all. You might even cut a few of the fan blades on each.

You don't need a lot of what you are using in your water. With clones, you do not need the following:
  • Balanced water
  • RO, distilled, or purified water (use plain tap water), unless really chlorinated, or hard
  • CalMag, Grow, or Bloom. Your plants won't be using nutrients from the water. They use the stored energy in the leaves, to root.
  • Bright light
Though not necessary, rooting hormones, like Clonex, can help speed up rooting a bit.

Hope your areocloner is a success!
@Hydrowannabe
I was infatuated over aero cloners for like 2 weeks before building one. Didn't really like it during test running
¼ tubbing and 7 T nozzle sprayers but the hose would always swell and lose connection. Even had to swap out a cpl nozzles. I said fk it and made a bubble cloner. For some reason i personally like it better. And hey I got one to root outta 4 lmao. Cost me lil less than 20 bucks cuz of the pump but the parts were all about a buck a piece. This is this "make sure it works" stage.
Made adjustments since then as in flow of water and and what not, I have it to perfection now :)15193324601211315706026.jpg
I have 3 pumps at home the small one in there, a 185, and a 1000gph for spares. I wana build like a huge aqua table some day. That would be the shyt
As of now I have neoprene collars instead of using sponges. Too saturated! But thinking of doing hour on 2 off cycle
