The two flowers you think are female flowers are actually new leaf growth, and the flowers showing do look male at first glance, but don't lose hope, because it's still too early to be 100% sure. Undifferenciated pistillate and staminate calyx's (male and female flowers) start out looking exactly the same, which is what makes it hard to tell them apart. What makes it look like a male to me is that you only get 2 pistillate calyxs at early growth, and you seem to have three staminate calyxs which would make it male.

Give it a little bit more time to be 100% sure though, in my opinion people yank plants way too early without being 100% sure.

raining men ^^ lol
To be honest, I don't find it at all amusing and I feel for the guy, he must be really gutted. To grow 4 plants and get 4 males is damned annoying, because all that time and effort has been wasted and I wish him much better luck next time.

Perhaps you should as well, rather than having a chuckle, although in fairness not directly as his misfortune.

I started with 12 plants 11 of them where male sometimes you just picked the wrong seed. Nothing to cry about. IMO

yea, it does suck, but i got like 10 more seeds already in some warm wet paper towels inside a travel coffee mug with the lid closed sitting on the desk next to me........ and fuck the aerogarden, now i'm building my own setup with a major res, the tubing/pump and sprayers... net baskets and the whole 9... building a 400w hps ballast/light too and for like 300$ i'll have a sweet flowering closet box ready... and then i'll just germinate these seeds, stick em in one lid with 10 holes and veg em under the 200w CFL i have.... have 2 little areas going for 2mo harvests --- IF the nature's yin swings back to yang and gives me some damn females this time.....

this another vintage of some high qual piff so we'll see if i catch a break......

I would feel sorry but if you think about it its not too bad. Expierence. first grow? The next one you can incorperate the knowledge you learned from this one if you wanna finish with 4 plants veg 8 of the mofos and now im sure you have a routine down for watering/nuting and other stuffs. Chalk it up in the boards we all make mistakes just learn from em. After all it is only one month er so to veg new ones get them seeds in the ground!

if you don't laugh at misfortune, than your never going to learn; or at least shrug it off to the gods will or something. shit happens, if you can't shoot your own dog than you shouldn't have it.

Well, yeah we all feel badly for you, not having any females to grow sucks. So let's look at what may have caused you to get all males. Cause I don't know about yin and yang, but I know not to mess with Mother Nature. :blsmoke:

With seeds, that taproot is fragile, and shouldn't be touched by anything until it gets into the medium. Then it should be allowed to grow downward, and it will grow very quickly, without much trouble, or crowding, for at least 6 inches. Any stress on this root in the first week of growth could cause a male expression. Other environmental factors may influence sex, too.

So how did you treat your new seedlings?

hm that is interesting that you mention that, however i thought i handled the little babies fine..... for that particular crop it was on an aerogarden and i DIDNT germinate prior, i just stuck the seeds in and let her rip on veg with water/low nutes........ and i never actually really fucked with the fragile seedlings much..

however in the very beginning i was having heat issues and frequently had temps hovering around 90, now i've got that under control and my temp ranged from nightime low of 68 or so to high of like 82 - and i've heard higher temps could cause males...

also, when i went from 22/2 vegging light cycle to 12/12 i put a full day of darkness in between because i read it helps the plants show traits... however i dunno if that may have inadvertantly shocked them...

i've also read that higher quantities of nitrogen help induce fem traits, and this next round i shall be using a bit more N in my solution.

currently now i have some seeds germing in a paper towel inside a travel coffee mug and will be finalizing construction on my homemade aero system

they will be put into rockwool and then into the system under a 200w CFL for vegging... i will take cuttings of each seedling that sprouts and root those clones.... then those will go into new grow closet i'm building out of wood this time with a 400w HPS to flower.... now here is where i have some options... when i have my host plants growing under veg 200w and the new clones under 400w HPS and they show traits, how long should i be letting those tiny forced flowering female clones go before yanking them.... or should i treat them as legit plants and grow the fems to harvest....

as opposed to taking a new set of clones from the now all-female hosts and waiting for those to root...

space is a bit of a premium for me as i dont have the luxury of growing 40 plants and picking the best one to clone... i gotta work with sets of like 10 seeds cuz my flowering space is 2x3x6 and vegging is 2x3x4... i'd like to eventually get down to 1 or 2 of the most potent healthiest plants instead of 5 or 6 genetically diff ones (so they generally act the same with nutes etc)

thoughts?

That high eat during veg could definitely have contributed to your bad luck, but I think bad luck is mostly what it was.
I've had temps around 65-70 under CFLs, which I used for veg and to start flowering. Out of the first 4, I got 2 males. Now I've got a 400w hps set up for flowering and have it hovering around 80 in there(65 w/ light off). The plants that already had started flowering seem happy with it, I'll see how the next batch does soon.

Id say if its your last plant give it a week and see what you get.It kinda looks male and if you had more plants Id isolate it to just be sure but if its the last wait and see as it may be new growth. The picture isnt the best look at its sex but if you see definate round bbs its a male or if has hairs to a hermie
