LED choice for new micro stealth scrog?

Hey peeps,

I have two cabinets that I am going to use for two seperate LED scrog grows. My main concern with HID would be the heat/fan noise/small space.. So after reading about LED's for a couple of weeks I have decided to go this route.

I have narrowed the list down to a few leds that I find the most appealing. According to the size of my two cabinets, what would you guys recommend me to buy?

Inside measurements of small cab (with no pots inside. pot size is 7,5" tall): (gonna use 1 or 2 pots with scrog)

83 cm height (32,5")
80 cm width (31,5")
38 cm depth (15,0")

Inside measurements of "large" cab (with no pots inside. pot size is 10" tall): (gonna use 2or3 x 10" pots with or maybe without scrog)

165 cm height (65,0")
90 cm width (35,5")
48 cm depth (19,0")

The leds that I am thinking about are:

Blackstar 100W ufo 2w led
Blackstar 135W ufo 3w led
Blackstar 180W 3w led
Blackstar 240W 3w led
Blackstar 500w 3w led

Advanced Diamond Series 100w 3w led
Advanced Diamond Series 200w 3w led

Prosource illuminator 90w ufo 1w led
Prosource Illuminator 180w ufo 1w led

Penetrator 84X-PRO 130w 3w led

Which light(s) would you choose for each cabinet? Maybe something else? Price is not an issue (unless it gets over $600 each)

P.S. Would be nice to get some leds with really quiet fans

Thanks guys!

I have the 200w diamond series and the fans are very quiet, much more quiet than my other led by far. I would do an advanced cabinet and a penetrator cabinet. They are more pricey than the others but I believe you get what you pay for. You may also want to consider the progrow line from hydroponicshut, they are receiving excellent reviews.

Buy 2 blackstar 500's and you'll be fine with some added ventilation, they make a bit of heat. Don't get any less though. In my opinion, that shit isn't even Lumeny enough to make rock hard elephant man nuggets. Better yet, get 1 600 w HPS plus 1 deathstar , i mean blackstar 500 watt. Then ventilate. GL

you could find a nice water cooled 600 watt HPS, that would work quite nicely

So should I use the advanced diamond series 200w in the larger cab or the smaller cab ? I'm especially worried about bleaching in the smaller one as I don't have much vertical space to work with.. maybe a decent 100w/200w 1w led would do in the small cab? as it won't penetrate as deep as 3w ? and then use 3w in the larger cab ? :bigjoint:

yeah you could use the 200w diamond series in the bigger cab, may need to do some lst'ing and/or scrogging. i think it would be perfect if not pushing the point of overkill, would be too much for the smaller cab I'd imagine. maybe the 100w or a ufo. I've actually never grown cabbie style so it's tough to say. I'm sure some led cab growers can offer better advice. good luck.

if you Scrog, you will veg quite some time, because of this I recommend using at least 4 gallons container in the big cabinet. You are probably better of with 1W LED for your small cabinet... personally I would go with blackstar for the price and performance in both unit ( I own HSS, blackstar, UFO, diamond series,FERO ) good luck, check out my journal if you want to see my cabinet with HSS and blackstar... https://www.rollitup.org/led-other-lighting/496483-bs240-vs-hss-non-scientific-10.html#post7023826

HSS has no fan, they are the most quiet LED, however, why would you want such quiet led, you will have oscillating fan + exhaust-intake fan right? you still need fresh air with leds...

sounds good.. thanks! BTW just checked all the blackstar units and they seem to only come with 2w or 3w leds and not 1w.. So you recommend that I get the blackstar 240w (3w) for the large cab and a blackstar 100w (2w) for the small cab?

I have some ultra quiet 120mm pc fans that I literally don't hear when they are inside them cab ;-)

it depends what you are after, I ran 2 leds in my cab, yours might be smaller, the good results I got with the blackstar, I had the light pretty close to the plant and the footprint was fairly small, I think if money is not much of an issue and you want to grow nice dense potent buds, I would go with 2 blackstar 240 in the flower cab and the one blackstar 100W (mainly blue for vegging) for the smaller cab. IMO you dont need much power for vegging especialy if you grow in cabinets. If you are doing one veg cab and one flower cab, I think you will want to LST while vegging, then after you transplant into bigger pots for the flowering cabinet, you can veg an extra week so that the plants get use to the new container and help fill up your screen, once you flip to 12/12 your screen is gonna keep filling quite a bit ( you can check in my signature my first organic grow was a scrog ) I m not a super experienced grower but these are my advices!! good luck looking forward to see how it will go for you

Nice links^^^^^but tell your buddy that when you can't spell correctly on your own website.........red flags!!

I'd say its about time someone stuck an hps in an led panel..........ha just joking....gonna kill the lifespan of all those leds around it/IMO.........;-)

Check my grow out either in my sig or down lower in this section, it's basically exactly what you want to do.

I'm using a grow led hydro spectra, but an older model. I wouldn't suggest one of their new ones for this though, they have issues especially when close to the plant while flowering.

If you can find my year 120 or 180 grab it

I agree with the spelling mistake!! I do think its a great idea though... keep em coming like this!!next thing there will be 400W hps+1000W led

hey guys I am currently also building a cabinet (like 190cm high, 90cm wide, 70cm depth) and every thing over MAYBE 120 watts is a complete waste. 200W for something like 0.4 square meters seems like overkill to me.

I will post a link to my journal as I nearly have the same dimensions. Also yes you will need some ventilation because even the 90 UFO produces heat.

TL;DR 120W is more than rough for your cabinet.

cool I will check your journal! :bigjoint:

BTW I am only using 108w cfl at the moment(actual watts) for 1 autostrain.. could anyone give me a ballpark estimate of how many watts of cfl compare to one 240w blackstar?(which is 133w actual led watts).

Thanks
