Hi all,

As a member who is currently in the market for a new light, I agreed when I saw @SoOLED in the original LED Light Companies thread suggest we start a new thread with an updated list.

So here it is. Populated a few names to start, and will add all others as I find them or they are posted. Currently working on adding all the links. Thought we might put together a recommended/do not buy list as well. Please let me know what you think.

Added all companies from your list with links where aplicable.

Should I just add to the Recommended/do not buy by request or some sort of voting process lol? I thought people liked Johnson around here.....

From your list other than..... So JOhnson is good.

The rest add to do not buy unless they're approved by some of the legit light geeks here.

Anything using epiled or any 3-5w LEDs that are not specifically all Osram then it goes on the junk pile!

I'll delete my posts
Oops, I misread that.

COB vs. LED based is a good idea. Is LED the right term though?

The problem is everyone has their own likes and dislikes. The bigger problem here though is that too many heads think anything not cob based is junk, which is not true.
Right, I think we should have some sort of system. If people actually recommend them maybe they should say so in this thread, same thing for DO NOT BUY. I can keep track and list the 5 with the most of each in the recommended/do not buy sections.

I would also like to designate which brands are new. If anyone can help me with that.

Maybe..... Led is just the individual diodes where cob is a bunch on a board. I'd keep them separate. Supra spy knows the Osram efficency I think it's like 45% can't remember....the other lights are worse so I'd have them in the junk pile myself.

If you don't separate the good from the bad up top then dudes excited to blow cash will just think everything up top is worthwhile Which whatever is natural selection however I'd like to see these companies to go under....... But that's not the reality of the world as we can see many people like hillery Clinton.....
I will definitely separate them into recommended/do not buy. We just need a proper method to do so.

Problem is dudes with Mars will say they're great. It's not about pleasing everyone. Go by the numbers of what are good. Cree cx are good Osram is good which means Fluence and California light works are good VERO is good and the citizen larger cobs are good.

Other than that IMHO the rest are shit. Unless someone provides legit numbers showing otherwise.
I would say you are probably right, but I think the DO NOT BUY should be reserved for those companies where people have the worst experiences. The exceptionally bad ones. I can move the recommended and do not buy lists to the top or something.

I would like to keep the main list intact so that people have a reference for everything that is out there. Even the not so great companies on that list are still helping push LED Grow Light technology forward, which is what we all want right?

I know a lot of these companies are weak, but it would be nice to have a comprehensive list none-the-less

if I may, there should be no "system" a simple list, and posts after can say trash, recommend whatever. but keep the list clean and free of all data save the URL's. there is a another thread for recommending a light. I think just having a clean list you can research free of trolls and fan bois is a good idea.

When the thread becomes 700 posts long no ones gonna sift through. They're gonna read most recent or look for something that is in line with their ideas on the matter Just like the other thread you'll have an idiot jump on saying how awesome SK lights are and how he's spending 5k on it then never post again.

It's best to BLUF!!! BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT!!!!

With bottom line up front no one has to constantly sway people from getting ripped off because they believe propaganda written for very poorly informed buyers. They see the first page and that Mars is good for a door stop and don't search through hundreds of posts for that 1 asshole that had an awesome veg plant under the shit light

but whom will be the one to set recommended interpretation/judgment. one person cant test them all, and everyone is on a budget: in that realm of lighting simply cant be a zero option because the person can not enter the top tier market.

we have two other LED threads for that. surely this will just become 300 pages of worthless dolt. a person can ask questions but leave the list untethered of opinions.
