LED grow setup

Hey all!

This is my first time posting here after having looked up on led lighting and growtents. I've been wanting to switch from MH/HPS and now i have the chance. I have some questions with my setup and LED's lighting.
Anyone with personal experience or any help would be really appreciated.

Lights:

Lumigrow Pro650 or SolarStorm 800w, 5x5x7 Gorilla Tent.

Question:

I've been reading about these two lights, i'm trying to choose which one to go for.

- The Lumigrow Pro650 seems to be my choice, since it is supposed to do 2X1000w HPS in PAR value. My questions for this light is, can you veg/flower at full power and since it come with the knobs for spectral control, what would be the best positioning for them for veg/flower. Also could it cover a SoG canopy of 5x5 or 4x4 is best in that tent?

- The SolarStorm 800w also seems to be a great competitor, the veg/flower switch makes it easier and has a UVB light installed also wich the Lumigrow doesn't have, not sure though if it has more output than the Lumigrow. Same question as before also would it cover the area I need?

Thanks

Let me know if you went with the Lumigrow light, I have the ES330 by Lumigrow and Im currently in week 3 of Veg. I dont know if I should keep the red & blue dialed all the way up, or only the blue since that is the spectrum used during the Veg phase. If you learned anything about this please advise, THANKS!!

I would also highly consider getting the 650 if you are happy with your ES330, but I am finally not going with the lumigrow, although it still seems very promising. The reasons why I went with the solarstorm were because of the t8 lights on the side and there is PAR ratings at https://growershouse.com/ the Solarstorm proved higher than the lumigrow . About your dials i have read that it is better to have more blue than red for vegging and the opposite for flowering, lumigrow says to put them all to the max, but then it would seem pointless to have the dials then.

Selecting an indoor LED Grow Light set up is not as straightforward as you might imagine. To begin with, you might think that you would simply invest in a light, dangle it up above the plant, plug it in and watch the magic happen.
I have done it multiple times with a 1000w hps, while having successful grows. I've also been researching on LED's for around a year now, so i know much more than "just dangling the light up and watching the magic happen."

Have you read the sticky up top about being new to LED? There's some good info there especially in the first few pages.

I'd think that you don't have the wattage for 25 ft2 although you should have wattage for 16ft2 but I would be concerned about the coverage of your grow area for either. Think multiple smaller panels or a light mover for a high wattage panel like you are looking at.

Don't know your style of grow but one issue that I had when switching to LED was overwatering. The plants aren't being heated up by the light and transpiring as much with LED so the water consumption went down. Another issue for me was in the winter grow, I had to add heat to the room...not the worst problem in the world but one to keep in mind. Some people think that cal/mag uptake goes up. I couldn't comment on that personally as I have quite a bit of calcium in my soil (make my own compost) and I didn't have nutrition issues at all. Good luck on the changeover. I was very happy with my results and am staying on the LED path. :)

Thanks for the input :), your right about the lighting for flowering in a 16ft2 is better. But I'm going to be putting 25 pots 1x1ft2, and use trellis netting to make the heads of the plants fit in the 4x4 area. Since its only 1/2ft around i should be able to fit them in since it will be SOG. If it doesnt work out ill only do 16 next time, my plan was to do a 4x8ft tent and put the light sideways and have it on a mover but, that is for later on. The heating should not be a problem either in winter I can control the room temp. Glad to see other people staying with LED's gives some inspiration since most people are still against it.
