Im looking at going with the 90 watt UFo, any feed back if its worth getting or should i just stick with my 250 hps. Trying to find new way cause i need to lower my heat.

I reccomend prosource ufo's, as I have not been burned by this company. They have a good product, even if the price is a little on the higher end, you for sure get your money's worth. Thats my two cents. Look em up, illuminator UFOs. they have both a 90W and a 180W which is what I have used and seen used, and the 180 seems to rock it hard, but then again the 90 is half the price, but I think you can for sure get comparable results to a 250W hps, we are beyond that point right now.

The funny thing is this light was and is made for something else. I asked Tim what he thought if maybe this light could grow plants because he was telling me that it simulates the sun. And well being a grower that sparked intrest in me. The next time I spoke with Tim it was like 3 months later and ask howthe lights are going he said he had a guy growing with them. I went and seen what he had going on. His set-up was alright but instead of doing one thing for a week he was doing 5 different things that people was telling him, use mite to kill this mite and then use ladybugs to kill these mites, and this bug will kill ladybugs, use soil, no use hydro, no go back to hydro. I think he had a big mess, so I told Tim myself and partner are wanting to get away from the heat and all the mess, so let me take some money out of my losing IRA and buy one of the big ones and I'll run some test on different plants and keep a log also I'll start a grow journal on a forum. So what it comes down to is he is going to get free studies from me and I get nothing. LOL I just told him if he strikes it big I WANT A NEW MOTOR AND TRANNY FOR MY RIGID FRAME!! LOL.
I check on the plants just a moment ago and they are growing like a weed. LOL. I am ne at LED's so The info I have on growing is a learning exp..

thanks for the info i went with a 90 watt instead of the 180 because im limited on space and i am only growing in a small linen closet and im going to use it on veg and the hps on flowering

Shaak are you going to post with grow I am wanting to see all of LED grows like I said I want to get away from the heat and everything.

Thanks for your contribution KW, it is much appreciated. Now, moving forward to more LED talk. There has been great progress documented with the jumbo 180W prosource ufo. I dig em. Other people seem to dig em too. I think we should keep our eyes on this company. I also notice LED-Girl was basically driven out. Lets try to keep our information from being depleted as hers was. There is no sense in losing good information and / or results to mere idiots arguing over LEDS. I have seen it with my own eyes, and if other people would open theirs as well, it could also be seen by many.

Keep up the good work everybody! Keep contributing! I am eager to see pics, lets get page 13 full of pics!!!!!!!!

I recently finished up an aeroponic grow using a 90w UFO LED supplemented with 4-54w CFL's in a 3'x4' cabinet. At the same time my buddy used the same aeroponics system (in a 4X4 tent), with clones from the same mother, but with a 400w HPS. Our yields were nearly exact and the quality as well. Mine took about 4 days longer to finish which isn't significant. I'll post some pics when I get back into town from a convention im at.

One thing I did notice is that the coverage is slightly lacking as the the plants directly under the LED were much more vigorous, although the outer plants still had nice nugs.

The biggest thing I took from all of this is the savings in electrical costs. While my total wattage of 306w is only 94 watts less I dont have to deal with as much heat. This means my exhaust fan runs significantly less often (additional savings).

Alot of the things I've heard is that cfl or T-5 supplementation helps... Im 12 days into veg with my latest but I've added a 2nd 90w LED UFO and removed the CFLs to see really what these things can do. I hope to be able to report great results!

I think the ideal way to light the garden would be to have a panel glowing over every part of the canopy. Obviously. We cannot rely on LED's at 120 degree lenses putting out enough area beyond the actual housing of the unit. Say the unit measures 12x24, then you should put that one unit over that exact size canopy, give or take an inch or few of course.

You want full canopy coverage, with the proper degree of lighting. Tests are being done to determine if/how these variables effect the plants growth.

We all already know that most led's can veg like a mo fo, but its those wonderful blossoms we all greatly desire.

LETS GET THIS THREAD GOING! C'mon peeps....

Alright Mods, and Everybody, I would like to conclude this nothingness of a thread.

If anybody is seriously interested in LED growing and the replacement of their HIDS, it may be a wise decision to wait until perhaps spring, maybe sooner, maybe a bit longer.

There are many lights out there now, which perform well; however, technology is continually moving forward and so will LED technology.

hey buddy, you're right about the coverage thing though 1 to 1.

Maybe in, the spring, I'll offer up a group buy of my led lights which are the product of years of research.

I think there will be interest, the light will be 250+ watts, cost between 3 and 400, and cover 4 square feet.

What do you think?
