Tweed is taking its grass party to new heights with a summer bash on the lawn of its marijuana factory in Smiths Falls.

On Saturday, Aug. 13, the licensed marijuana producer is inviting 5,000 guests to its Front Yard Shindig right on the sprawling yard of Tweed’s headquarters. The “family friendly” concert is free and will include local bands BlakDenim, a hip-hop, funk and soul act, and The Balconies, an alternative ensemble, as well as East Coast indie rockers The Joel Plaskett Emergency.

Food trucks and water stations will be onsite, and there will be ample free parking.

Tweed Inc. spokesman Jordan Sinclair said they’re hosting the event to show appreciation for the customer and community support they’ve received since the company took over the former Hershey’s Chocolate factory space in 2014. As well, he says, there is a community outreach element.

“There is still a lot of misunderstanding and stigma surrounding medical marijuana use, so we just want to be able to put ourselves out there and show people what type of company we are,” said Sinclair. “And the other part is we just thought it would be a really good idea.”

So can you smoke weed at Tweed’s party? The answer is yes and no.

“We are a medical marijuana company so we felt that it was appropriate to have an area where, if you are an authorized medical user, we will provide a vapour lounge for people to be able to use,” he said. “So we encourage people to only medicate there. And as for recreational use, we won’t be supporting that. And our neighbours, the Smiths Falls police, I’m sure wouldn’t, either.”

The event will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitors must get their free tickets online and present a printed version at the gate.

Had to stop here. They've already told us they arent medical and that is not their focus. Fucken jackoffs keep tryin to pull that wool far enough past the publics eye that they can continue to strangle patients with it.

Not very ethical.
First they pretend to grow medical cannabis - later they say they are really recreational. Then they over charge for crap and lie about their Thc/CBD levels on their weed containers. They advertise and throw schwagg parties.

so HC is in charge of this mess is no surprise.

It is a recruitment drive for trimmers - in a third world country it is called a sweat shop - in Canada it is called Tweed. Kids don't want to sell lemon aid or deliver news papers. No the word around the playground this summer is trim for tweed.

They must only be doing this because there facing some sort of back lash from the community. All these LPs paraded into towns claiming 100s of jobs but only hiring a few dozen. Most part time and near minimum wage. What was it? AMMCan in kincardine said 600+ jobs and turned around hiring 30 and now mid last year most were laid off. Nobody likes LPs.
