Light intensity in veg.

Back when I first started growing in the early 90's I put high light intensity all the way seedling thru harvest. So now that I'm back at it I keep reading about backing the light intensity in veg. I have also seen a lot of grow diaries. It might be a coincidence but the best results I have seen were done with the led lights as close as 12 in in veg. Only on my second grow since the 90's so I'm no expert. The idea of less light in veg must have some merit. Just curious. I'll show the results I have had keeping 12 in or closer all the way seedling thru harvest. My second grow is on week 7..... 2 weeks into flower. Going to take pics this wieekend

Your grow is looking good.

I guess its down to the brand of light used. Some of the more affordable models tend to use a combination of components that are not comparable in ppfd. Human eyes can't judge what the plants are actually recieving. So a lamp using, for example, trendy LM301B might be blasting at 12", and be better hung at way higher to avoid stressing or killing a seedling. Back in the hid days lamp output was generic, and so everyone could be on same page and use general rules for guidance on distances to hang.

That's interesting becuase I just got a new light with LM301H diodes. Replaced my Mars Hydros. Got the Fissioning 120 qb. How high on seedlings to not fry them?

If they are in early stages of bloom like in your last picture above, I would be tempted to lower the lamp a bit, and give them what they can take without showing signs of stress. You will have to make the final call as they grow. They look well acclimatised in that last picture.

Keep the pictures coming as they progress. Wish I could be there to smell them.

Sorry. On the question of fresh sprouts, I would refer to the ppfd map thats up on the amazon product page and hang above 24". And bring it down as the seedlings harden off and get used to the light.
