Light problem

Hi guys, i've setup my first closet grow with 600w HPS. I've pluged in al the things to test out equipment to see the temperature's rise and humidity levels. And after abou 4 hours i've decided to test light timer. When I turned off the light and pluged it back in it started the disco kind playing game .. Simply doesn't want to start back. After about one hour I tried again and works.. Did I connected something wrong or does light just need some time to chill?

Yes. The bulb needs to cool before re-start. They can be damaged by hot starts.

Oh.. Thanks for the reply. I vas scared that i've connected something wrong. I really don't want some fire in apartment.

HPS lamps have a ceramic arc tube and use xenon as a starting gas. It takes 3 to 4 minutes to fully vaporize the mercury/sodium amalgam and come to full light output. Restrike time is about one minute — very short, as HID restrike times go.
