I have 14 seeds that just popped the soil a day ago and I'm on day 4 now. How long should my fluorescent lights be on? And how close?

I go 24/0 until my seedlings have entered the vegetative phase...then I drop it down to 18/6.

As for my male:female ratio...it has always equaled out to 50%. I know a lot of people try tinkering with stuff to get more females than males, but I think most of the time its just a waste.

I use 18/6 and seriously I am not sure if it really helps my Female/Male ratio. My last attempt was 2/2 females. My previous attempt was 100% female as well. I am probably just lucky.

Many years ago I was told that higher Nitrogen would assist in having your plants be females. I really have no idea but it has worked well for me so I continue to do what has worked in the past.

ok thank you to both of you guys. I'm sure the extra hours will make a difference. Is it bad to increase the light when I have already put it on a 15/9 light schedule? I mean, will it stress out my plants?
