We've all gotta learn somehow mate don't have to be a dick about it.
Dick? No you just don’t want to accept being a cheap DIY grower. Buy the right equipment not just because it’s cheap. Quality pot isn’t grown with cheap ideas and equipment. Nobody learns the right way by continually buying something different to achieve the same results

Hey guys ive just been browsing online but I cant for the life of me get any more specs than this for these lights and it doesn't seem to tell me what I need to know :/ can anyone tell me if thesed be any good for growing :) (Obviously at least 2 of them would be needed lol)View attachment 4092916 View attachment 4092917
I think this is just for the socket, not a grow light....

Don't use Halogen, most of the power it uses goes to heat and they get super hot.

If you are looking to keep the price tag low, look toward making your own light.
Look up GroMau5 on Youtube, he shows (or used to show) how to make your own lights using LED COBs.
GroMau5 was even pimping a company that is in Australia, Cutter Electronics, where you could buy kits or buy parts and make your own.
I have used one of his recommended systems and they work, even with cheaper brand LED COBs.

Good luck.

Don't want to accept? I KNOW I'm a cheap DIY grower, IM POOR DIPSHIT. But you didn't say 'don't but cheap, do it properly' you were a being a sarcastic DICK. I tried being nice but that apparently didn't work. Everyone else seems to be able to give me quality advice without being a prick about it so how about you piss off. Hows that?

Continue being an experimental grower who can’t use google to find his equipment. I’d really hate to see the schwag your growing. Prolly using Christmas lights [emoji23]

I am a poor grower too...
I got a decent yield from a DIY COB set up (enough for me and that's all I want) that cost me less than $300 and I never had the light set past 170 watts (of a possible 250 watts), so there is room to expand.
All in all, I am less invested in gear than what came out of the first grow.
We do what we can to get by and I am sure you're not looking for 2 pounds of flowers per plant.
There are many ways to skin the cannabis cat...
They don't call it weed for nothing...
You shouldn't have to go into serious debt to have a decent grow.

I’m not in debt exactly the opposite
I used to be poor until Michigan passed the law that I could grow pot. I’m giving good advise regardless of what you think

Nope as youd see in another post I put up I'm using about 200w of CFLs and t8s I think I thought they were 5s but going on peoples reactions and descriptions id say t8. I cut a lower bud off it that looked half done just to see how it was going and its already reasonably solid and smelly so nah don't think its gunna be shwag. Also nah why use google when I can come on here and ask ACTUAL growers? you really aren't too smart :wall: bongsmilie

Actually quite the opposite. You want to grow cheap pot, your life must suck. I can only imagine what your using for nutrients or the bugs you have. Yes your life sucks

you really suck at trolling, you realize it wasn't me that said your life must suck right yet that's obviously directed at me :wall: imagine whatever you want, I really don't care ;) now why don't you crawl back into your hole and leave the discussion to the grown ups?

I troll idiots that can’t navigate the web to find specs on a light. I’m very amused that’s why I interject. I love responding to either stupid questions or someone looking for attention

couldn't have said it better myself mate :)
I can't stand posters like dirtyeyeball. This forum is for growers looking for advice. That's why people join the site. To answer your original question. You should look for specifically "grow lights"... I run four 23 watt cfl's for seedlings. For veg and flower I have a 400 watt HPS and a cheap 300 watt led light from China that I got for 60 bucks. You want to have at least 50 watt per sq foot in my opinion.

exactly mate that's exactly why I'm on here to get advice not be trolled by idiots :/ that's not a bad groundrule, I have about 200w of fluoro/cfls on my flowering plant right now, but they don't seem to be getting very solid so I'm trying to get an idea of what to invest in for my next go around the closet they are in is a foot or two wide and 4 foot tall might have to get one with more width
