lighting setup

Ok guys i am new here so go easy on me.
i am planing to grow two or three plants in a 3ft by 3ft closet could i get away with a 200w hps/mh system.Thanks

long as you have a decent vent system

for that space u could use a 600 hps and do 5/7 plants any reason why a 200
bit dim for 3 plants u will achieve something but if your in it then do wat u can
to get wat u want

I've had a pretty good harvest (around 3 oz if i remember) from 1 northern lights plant using only a 100w HPS.
You can grow a couple of plants with a 200w HPS but don't expect amazing bud.
Watch your temps in that space, intake and extract fans are essential, I use a few PC fans.
I would buy a 200w MH conversion bulb that will work with your HPS Ballast. This will be better for veg stage, then use your HPS for flowering.

600w & 5/7 plants in a 3ft x 3ft space? You have to do Bonsai MJ and you would cook them!

my space is slight over 3 ft sq works for me
i wont bother getting in debit with u over this that and other i have got the full setup no corners cut
u only have problems wen u tend not to have everything u need vents heat etc etc 3 years in same space no problems good results on all aspects

I have one more question would it be better just to use CFL bulbs?

It is NEVER better to use CFL bulbs over HPS or MH, they just don't pump out the lumens like a HID bulb does.

MH and HPS always win, remember that they will alwways be your number one choice until something better comes along and right now there isn't anything better.

Also if you haven't purchased anything yet just go ahead and get a 400 watt digital HPS for your space, 2 - 3 plants would be just fine. If you have to you can Veg under it also.

You could also purchase seperately a couple CFL to Veg under or a couple 2 foot bulbs and veg under them.

Really we need more details as to what you have and really what you want to do.

you could also just point a fan on ur bulb wen its on

Well to tell you the truth i have a little grow going now just to see if it would work.I have 2 little plants growing under two 23w cfls and they have growing pretty good,i just set it up like that to see if i could grow anything lol.
they have been growing for the past 8 days and are about 2.5 inches tall,i was just wondering how many bulbs i will need to keep them growing good. Thanks again for all your help everyone.
