If it's just a one-time thing, I would recommend just getting some shorty T5s or a cheap LED. If you want to keep growing and get some quality production in the future, I would build a COB light.

If you want a cheaper single plant light, I would get one on Amazon. Home Depot is expensive. On Amazon, you can get a cheap 400W HPS kit for $110, a cheap MarsHydro LED for $76, or 250W COB LED for $126.

Any of these are a good choice. I would probably go with a chepo led though, so you don't have to worry about (as much, anyway) excess heat and what to do with it.

If it truly has to be from a local store, go to Lowes and get some CFLs, the twisty lights. Some folks say you can use those led bulbs they have now, but I've never done it so I'm not going to recommend it. The fixtures they go in, I've always just wired them up myself, with pigtail sockets from the electrical department. Wire them in parallel to a power cord, and you're ready to go. I saw a picture the other day of someone with like a six socket star, like the ones they put diodes on, but I couldn't tell you where you could get that.

Best of luck.

Depending on how everything is set up, he could get his hands on some cheap clip on desk lamps that take a regular light bulb, drop in a CFL or deglobed LED, highest wattage possible that fits, then at least there's a rudimentary reflector to get a bit more light sent to the plant instead of it going out in all directions. Just need a socket block on a cheap timer and it's "plug and play" from there.

You know, this sort of thing

The easiest way to go would be power strips, sockets that plug into them, and household led lights, they work. Then also easy would be the t8 floro tube shop lights. They both keep the plamts happy in veg, not really suitable for flower if you have standards.

Then there's portable CFL/LED floodlights, small LED floodlights for your garden are cheap as hell nowadays, you could probably pick up 3 for $30, so many options.

Led floodlights are junk. The house leds lights are 10x better. Dont cut off the diffuser like some people recommend.

Just thinking of off the shelf options, I know these floods are crap on their own but a few of them at the right price would be better than nothing.

Mind you, I've just looked at Home Depot's website and the prices for these floods are ridiculous, definitely not an option.

Im trying to tell you... the flood lights are junk, ive used them. Ive ised the household ones too, they are 10x better. This is only for veg mind you, i only recommend HID for flower. Please just advise the things youve used.

I didnt see the second half where you said it was stupidly priced, just saw the "looking at the website, would be better than nothing bit, an above where you said you haddent used them.
RIU is full of people giving bad advice they never tried themselves now days...

sylvania brand pushes 100lm/watt and its $8 for a 6 pack, off the shelf. Light socket plugins are $1, power strips are like $2-3
You can get 3 blubs per strip, easy to mount on the walls with the screw slots on back. You can diy a ghetto grow for $30 amd noone bats an eye.

Like with most things, there's differing opinions on whether they work or not. Some on other forums are claiming success of some sort with specific setups, others, like you, say don't waste your time. I looked at the cheaper ones here and thought it wouldn't be worth it, even though you can get them at 2500-3000K now, because the output was so low, and you're prices are just silly before, I assume, you add sales tax.

Id start over, honestly you can get farther starting fresh with seeds in the time it takes to get that plant on track. The leds you posted... well they arnt workhorses, but if the plan is to put them outside to in spring they will be good enough. Id pass o the mars burple, its a running joke of a light.
Sometimes its worth revegging a plamt if its a great plant, most times it isnt worth the hassle. The plant posted looks like its not worth it imo but that up to you to decide.
