Lights

Hey fellow growers I just started growing recently and I need som advice. I recently purchased my CFL's and I just want to make sure I'm on the right track. Until now I've been using a 75 watt grow light and now I'm throwing in a 26 watt CFL that produces 1800 lumens. They seem to be doing rather well and look healthy but one is growing faster than others. Is this normal? I'm using Miracle-Gro Organic potting soil mix here are some pics thanks in advance for your help.......:bigjoint:

This is the big one growing faster than the others.

Some others in my grow box

This is the big one if you can give me some insight on what strain it is I'd be very appreciative also!

i love it when a new parent dotes on their babies. seriously, you're doing fine and differences in growth rates that early can be caused by a million things.

more importantly, you are going to need a lot more light by the time you harvest. as a general guide, you want 75 watts per square ft of growing area by the time you are flowering.

Change your soil !! pots look rather large for the size of your plant. Get more light !!! 1800 lumens is not sufficient. Your leaves are single blading, looks to be stressed. Get a 125w CFL 6500k with a shade (roughly 80 dollars)

I use two of these for around 12 vegging plants for the time being. Then when they are able to handle it, I have 2 600w HPS for a lil more veg time and flower duration. With those bulbs you have your not going to get far. Do some research in the grow faq.

Good luck bro :D

Do not change your soil your soil is fine and changing it now would be the worst thing you could possibly do, they don't have a good rootball to hold the soil together for a safe transplant and would shock and even kill them easily at this stage.

bad advice....

Even still there is nothing wrong with the MG soil when you know not to use it as a normal soil. It will work out fine if just watered properly and if you don't try to add nutrients to it. All it needs is water and only when dry and you're good.

Not enough light for sure, and if you only have two lights you should have those plants crammed together as tight as they will fit to get them all as close to the lights as possible and please raise the ones in small containers to the same height as the taller ones, just set them on top of things to even them out.

Have you thought about spending $30-$50 on one or two of the $20 hps's? (If you're in the US that is.)

Lastly the formulas for wattage per square foot don't apply to cfl's. I haven't seen a forumula for cfl's yet as they are all different as far as efficiency, the lumens per watt, and using formulas meant for hps's would be way off because hps's have a much higher lumen to watt ratio (on average).

What kind of "grow light" are you talking about exactly? Most of those are extremely poor, worse than cfl's. You could almost count yourself as running on a single cfl at this point.

Either way you desperatly need more light immediately, as in yesterday. If you have no other choice it would even be better to add a couple 100w incandescents or a halogen temporarily. Anything to keep them alive and growing at this point. You do not want to run those longer than needed and need to be really really careful about heat from them burning the plants. They throw more heat than light, but then again the grow bulb you have probably does also.

The Grow bulb is barely putting any heat off and the same goes for the CFL's its like a mild temp in my grow box. As far as what kind its just one I picked up from Wal-Mart at the advice of a friend who grows shrooms using that very same type of light he is also a Clemson graduate who majored in horticulture. The plants are doing great and I'm appreciative of the more lighting advice as I suspected I would need more. Thanks guys and skunky sorry bro but I'm gonna take the Veteran's advice on this one.

dont grow with those lights use these and your electricity wont go up and you will get big fat buds but make sure you get both red and blue spectrums.

42 watt average $10.00 each

65 watts, = $23.99 average price

85 Watt, average $29.00 each

105 watt average $38.99 each

Or Look for Clamp Reflectors and Bulbs together:

go buy these light and you wont be dissappointed i promise:):):)

The soil looks like crap... way TOO big of pots for the size... is that why they have a well developed root system??? single bladed hurting plants guarantee they have like 4 roots in total stop being a fag

Yeah he can rip the roots and possibly kill them. But that might be the best thing for them. They are receiving NO LIGHT. Oregon MEDS, you need to chill the fuck out all your posts you sound like a complete asshole. :D why is that? SMOKE SOME WEED EAT SOME PUSSY chill bro ! Help him with his plants then. Have fun
