Living soil recipe doesn't smell too good?

I used kelp meal, neem cake, crustacean meal, gypsum, oyster shell flour, basalt, and grounded malted barley. All of these amendments obviously smell like dried seafood.

I mixed those amendments with peat moss, compost, worm castings, and pumice. These components smells like fresh forest.

The end result smells funky. Especially when it's closed off in a 4x4 tent with humidity levels above 55%.

Is this normal case for you guys as well? Or did I use too much amendments? Each amendment was 1/2 cup per cubic feet except the basalt, that was 4 cups per cubic feet.

its composting, getting ready to grow a fungal freeway to break down those ingredients for the plant to use.
keep it tossed and mixed, with good fresh air supply, seal up anything wet and it ferments, like weed in a jar, wet dirt in a tent and sometimes anaerobic bacteria thrives instead of the desired aerobic types

Hmm, I was told by the guys at buildasoil that this recipe can be used right away and there is no need for composting/cooking. He said I can plant my cannabis seeds right into the soil and water. That's what I did.

Water soil with labs or em1. That will kill off the pathogens creating that smell.

I was told to use bokashi as well. Is that similar?

If it happen to me ill just make a compost tea bubble for 24h with molasses

When i top feed seabird guano make me wAnna puke but the smell go after watering that why i top feeed before watering.

Do your plant are green ?

sort of. Bokashi is an imo. Has no lactic bacteria. But theres 2 brands that have lactic bacteria. Em1 bokashi which can be purchased for Build A Soil or Teraganix. or Gro Kashi which can be purchased from Build A Soil or directly from Gro Kashi.
