I would like to grow some flowers, in my grow tent, now that i'm no longer using it for weed.

I'm wondering what sorts of flowers I can grow under and hps or mh bulb that won't need to be pollinated?
i have a 400w hps/mh in a 3x3 tent.

thanks :D

You can grow anything that requires less than full sunlight and does not get tall and skinny.

I'm partial to Streptocarpus but any member of the African violet family (gesneriads) will grow and flower great under artificial light. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streptocarpus http://www.gesneriads.ca/

Two winters ago my house heading system failed and I had to call in an emergency 'no heat'.
I had my grow in the basement about 10feet from the heating system. When the tech arrived to troubleshoot I had two Cannabis plants and about a dozen Streptocarpus in full bloom under my lights. The tech was totally fascinated by the Streptocarpus and apparently never noticed the cannabis among the other plants.

Many types of orchids do great as well. The low-light types like Phalenopsis do the best but higher light species like Cattleya and Ascocenda also do well. I've grown about 50 different species and hybrids of Orchids under fluorescent, HID and LED lights. For these plants you need to up the humidity to about 40%-50% but otherwise they are easy.

This summer while the Cannabis was growing outside I grew Kong coleus under my lights. Easy to grow and spectacular as a mature plant. http://www.panamseed.com/plant_info.aspx?phid=018003855004463

No pollination is required for flower production. Most gesneriads are self-pollenating so you will have seeds whether you want them or not if you grow gesneriads.

If you are interested in manipulating plants by photoperiodicity like Cannabis: Christmas cactus, Poinsettia or Chrysanthemum respond just like Cannabis to long and short days.

Realistically, you can grow almost anything under artificial light. Don't be afraid to experiment.

hey thanks for the response and info. i managed to pick up some cacti and a wandering jew. also got an aloe plant, and some geraniums. found a poinsettia today at the thrift store and snatched it up. ordered all kinds of seeds from china off of ebay too. should be a good indoor garden in a few months!

quick questions, do i have to pollinate the strawberries? are there any varieties that will do better indoors under lights?

What about everbearing? how does the light schedule work for these?
Ever bearing and day neutral are the same thing.
they have no light scheduel.
Problem with growing things indoors is Cannabis has a huge community, other things not so much.
I run mine under 18/6.
They bear fruit every week once they are mature.
Not too complicated.
I mainly grow them because my daughter eats them like water.

ahh perfect! haha. i will order this "giant" everbearing kind then. Thanks for the info man! Think I might grow one cannabis plant in there, maybe use it as a mother and try my hand at cloning, haven't conquered that level yet.
