Looking to get my med card

Getting a recommendation without actually having a qualifying condition is not legal.
I may not have a "serious" medical condition to you but for me it is debilitating and countless days have been spent curled in a ball in pain. Marijuana has been the only thing that has helped over the years and regardless if Maine law sees my condition as a qualifying condition or not doesn't mean anything, the government shall not tell me how to medicate myself.

I'm not belittling your condition. I'm being honest - you are the one who said that you want to stay legal. It's not legal to get a recommendation unless you have a qualifying condition. It's as plain as that.

Personally, i strongly believe that a doctor should be able to recommend for any condition that is treatable with cannabis. But the law does not agree with my position.

Or a condition his doctor considers MM will help.....which could be just about anything.
Maine law only allows cannabis to recommended for a very short list of conditions. Changes have been proposed to allow recommending for any condition but they have not made it into law as yet.

You are 100% correct. I apologize. In order to use mm for a non-listed condition you must petition the state.

Get a caregiver card and grow....nevermind, you have to be 21.

The background on this is that DHHS is supposed to have published a process for petitioning to have new conditions added. In the two years since the amended law was passed they have not done this. Mark Dion has proposed a bill that would, as you said, let physicians recommend for any condition they feel would benefit from cannabis (which i believe is the wording from the referendum).

I was having a conversation with friends last night about how DHHS was so behind on everything to do with mmj. Nice to have information passed here, because we sure as hell can't count on the state for it!
No offense to anyone working for the state ...

How long have you been waiting? From what i've been hearing from the folks at CCM, the 8-week delay is for new apps. Caregiver reapps have been taking 3-4 weeks. I've also heard that going to Augusta and rattling some cages seems to get things moving.

The Department's knock on John was that he was more like a caseworker than a regulator. I not real optimistic that this will improve anytime soon. Unfortunately.

Yup ccm told my friends the same thing: approx 8 week delay on new caregiver apps... this is sort of where our conversation started about DHHS/state.

Remember when the first version was enacted in '09? There were provisions in there that allowed one to fashion their own card and declare themselves registered if the state didn't respond in a timely manner. I kid you not! I'm not sure if it applied to caregivers or not.
lol bet there isn't anything like that anymore. Sorry, didn't bother looking.

I have to admit fellas - the reason for me taking an interest is I'm turning eighteen in ten days and this is my #1 thing on my to do list. I hate being underage, and thank the Good Lord I'll finally be considered an "adult." I just want to make sure that this won't be a problem with Phillips? As long as I'll be 18, have my primary care doc's name and my $250 I should be fine? I want to get legal and STAY legal guys!
Did ya get legal?
