Looking to make a switch

What's your grow area? 4 area 51 panels will cover a 5x5 - 6x5. 4 hans panels will cover a 4x4. Apache at660 will cover a 4x4 - 5x5. 4 apache at200 will cover a 6x6. Or you can hang vertically around 32 Cree a19 globes from home depot.

those are the top led panels.

for Chinese led. Lower par.. vipar / evergrow (Nova) have a 400 watt that supposedly covers a 4x4.

I don't know if you could flower Afghan properly with Hans panels or the beloved Apache.
other than hating and instigating arguments you base this on what......?. you are an led grower yourself. I don't understand your thinking. I would love to try apaches. But A51 and Hans are more cost effective and run less watts. Apaches are the only led lights that are able to drive their leds 100%.. Apache's have the highest par rating of any panel. I'm pretty sure Multipass is doing afghan under 4 hans panels. Hans use Cree leds too.

what do i need to get in comparison for LED'S. im a bit confused on these lights and whats required.

here is a light on ebay.

how many of these would i need to replace 600+400 hps

thanks
I really wanted to go LED but they cost alot plus compared to the Gavitas PRO DE 1000 made not get any LED period.

I used the 225 Hex Band panels which were probably made in china.
I used them for the sides of the plants and CFL's for the tops.
I can't say much for the results because I made mistakes in the grow, too many variables.
However All 3 panels which were purchased by two manufactures craped out after about 5 months almost no LED's even light up anymore.
Perhaps that brand will be better though, goodluck.

i can only speak for a51 and would recommend them. usually around 700 watts of leds will match ur 1000watts hps. also i can only speak for their older models (590watts)and they grow HARD nugs

I agree with that. About 700 watts of quality LED is a rough equivalent to 1000 watts of quality HPS. That's one main of the reasons I use LED. HPS may produce a bit more lumens per watt but because of the absolute control over spectrum LEDs can offer much higher usable PAR light at comparable wattages. The heat issue can be a big deal in a warm climate and with high power costs which makes LED much more attractive. I also love that each LED is a light source all to itself which makes the possibilities for getting the light perfectly on target pretty interesting.
