Looks like the you have no choice but to let the village teach your children

I ma not a big fan of home schooling but I do think that everyone should be allowed to choose. I see the states point of view to an extent, meaning I do not think some crackhead should be homeschooling their kids. Ah well, what do you guys think?

Homeschoolers' setback sends shock waves through state

"With this case law, anyone in California who is homeschooling without a teaching credential is subject to prosecution for truancy violation, which could require community service, heavy fines and possibly removal of their children under allegations of educational neglect,"

A primary purpose of the educational system is to train school children in good citizenship, patriotism and loyalty to the state and the nation as a means of protecting the public welfare," the judge wrote, quoting from a 1961 case on a similar issue.

The ruling was applauded by a director for the state's largest teachers union.
"We're happy," said Lloyd Porter, who is on the California Teachers Association board of directors. "We always think students should be taught by credentialed teachers, no matter what the setting."

that sums it up for me. when the government indoctrination union is clapping their hands you know shit has gone wrong in a major way.

children are the responsibility of the parents, case closed. the university system is responsible for determining admissibility to the university system if the kid goes on to college and employers are responsible for determining aptitude for employment. where does the government fit in to the equation?????

The judge ruled that there is no constitutional right to home school your children. Why no mention that there is nothing in the constitution allowing the government to educate our children? Chalk it up to flexable principles.

I hope that all those involved in home schooling will revolt against the state ... to the point of being thrown in jail. And, if the state goons come for the children, exercise those second amendment rights. Its time.

loyalty to the state and the nation

This sums it up for me, Brainwashing. The state must be able to brainwash the children to prepare them for cannon fodder in the name of the state.

On the contrary, Med. The State must educate the children in order to produce good little citizens and workers who don't ask questions. :blsmoke:

Thats right Redd, Black is white and white is black. Idiota-Assholio.
Typical answer from Med O'Mao.

Actually, we're kind of on the same page here. You commented that the state needs cannon fodder ... and I commented that the state needs unthinking citizens. One would have to be an unthinking person to allow one's self to become cannon fodder, no?

My interpretation goes much further than your's though Med. Like for example, when you boast that some of your wife's clients come from as far away as Idaho to have her do their taxes, without realizing that, while she's good at doing the taxes, the tax system is so fucked up, and people are so confused about it, that they have to travel hundreds of miles in order to find someone they trust to do the friggin' taxes in the first place.

See? ... Unthinking, good little citizens and workers. :blsmoke:

You always have to put hate into every thread. Societies demand taxes to survive, some must pay more as they make more and some pay less as they make less, seems like a simple enough plan. It's just that the greedy rich people seem to think they are paying too much. There is a thing about greed. It seems that the more you have, the greedier you are. You must have a lot. Bringing my wifes tax following into this thread was needless and I must say childish. My wife provides a service and, yes, people trust her to make their world safe from the big bad government. She has saved many people lots of money by doing their taxes correctly. she will not do false tax claims. I am going to ask you nicely to leave my wife out of any further threads, thank you.

This ruling makes me sick.. for anyone truly interested in the real problems of our public educational system- I wrote a pretty lengthy article about it.. the link is in my signature.

Vi and Med- same concept.. little differences, but pretty much the same page.. what's the deal? lol..

You just don't get it, do ya Med? Its not about your wife, its about exactly what you said: "Safe from the big bad government."

Government is POWER. What's "hateful" about espousing an education or tax system that reduces that state power over the citizens and puts it back into the hands of the people? I'm talking about ordinary people here, Med. People like you and me.

Just spit out your solution oh great wizard. How do you propose to control 300+ million people, Anarchy? You'd better head for the hills, for your worst nightmare would be 10,000 poor people with guns invading your ritzy neighborhood.

Bull shit, Med. This is just more of your class warfare bullshit.

If you can find any constitutional authorization for the federal government to be involved in education, please provide the link.

And as far as "controlling" 300 million people, the word "control" in your post says it all.

Translation: "Holy shit, the dumb-ass isn't so dumb! I've looked and looked for the constitutional authority for the federal government to be involved in the education of our children until I'm blue in the face ... and I can't find even one word authorizing it! Hey ... I'm not going to admit to that Vi asshole that I've discovered that I've been brainwashed by our government monopolized school systems and its turned me into a non-questioning, good little citizen and worker."

Oh boy... lol.. you two..

The Constitution does not appoint the government to run schooling. Period.

I don't think I know of one teacher who likes the Federal intrusion- esp. with the 'no child left behind' crap- too many attached regulations and shyt..

I hate the whole schooling system period.. but locally run schools IS the best alternative in this system..

The best solution is an education tax credit, offered to anyone who was willing to pay for anyone else's schooling. Similar to charity write-offs, or gambling loss write offs. Set a ceiling, $5000, and I could get that deduction come tax time by paying for my neighbors private education now. Private schools would start popping up all over offering yearly tuition rates of $4999.00, and would offer superior service, as that's what education is, over public/government monopolized schools. What other monopoly is legal in America? (oil, oil, oil, oil, oil,) Not a chance.
