If Canada would find these items harmless to use on marijuana crops nobody would report this anymore, problem solved.

Now that cannabis is becoming more mainstream you will be seeing pest resistance bred into strains. It's just a matter of time when pesticide/fungicide will not be needed. The flood gates will open soon. Gene editing (CRISPR) is just around the corner for cannabis.

    Itsme.

Shit yeah by the time the bud leaves the pot factories Monsanto's poison will be all over it.

As far as i have read the only requirement from the government is that no banned pesticides or herbicides are to be used.
That did not stop the Corporate growers in eastern Canada that were caught using banned pesticides the money hungry wads are about oblivious to other peoples well being.

I have hopes that small producers will be given space to prosper in the upcoming Gold Rush , Corporate Canada has been showing it does not deserve the responsibility in most peoples eyes

CRISPR is just around the corner for anything.
I got to work with the system to generate several GMO species (not Cannabis), quite an amazing leap compared to the traditional agrobacterium transformation (which was in itself a marvel).
It's definitely going to be a new renaissance in biotech.

Imagine making strains of crops that can fix N2 directly from air like legumes - No more need for chemical fertilizers!

I support anything that will allow poor farmers from 3rd world countries to feed their people better.
As long as enough studies provide evidence the new strains pose no danger to human, animals, and the ecosystem they are in.

I don't disagree with you, that's why I turned down multiple job offers from Monsanto and their likes.
I would still like to believe that we are constantly improving as a species, and that these technological advancements will also bring some good into the world.

You have alternatives, not everyone on this planet does.
In some countries the choice would be GMO or starvation and war.

And this is why I prefer what I grow to what I can get ahold of. At least I know what's gone into- and onto the plant.

It may not be primo weed. But, at least what I grow with. Isn't going to poison me.

great excuse!!! its to bad thats not the idea being used.

just like LP's did to get their foot in the door and THEY ARE NOT HELPING ANYONE OR DO THEY GIVE A RATS ASS....
They have been shown to POISON ALL!!!

any more bright money hungry lying ways mr?

OH I hear ya..AND it all sounds peachy clean and perfect too
But experience shows ITS NOT AND ITS FAR FROM THE TRUTH BEHIND IT ALL..
Oh and I agree there should be something done
and I dont have a way other than TO DO IT RIGHT
and we all know how to do it right!
Quit pretending that its so difficult to help by making excuses about starving people.

Monsanto can suck the hind tit like the bottom feeder they are.

as soon as you add profit to that equation it fly's out the window.

CRISPR is better served on humans and can potentially lead to a world where we can breed out certain genetically heredetary disease and illness. Cannabis has done just fine in the 2000+ years humans have been using it. No need to fuck with that. As for 3rd world countries and GMO crops to aid farmers, this has also been done for decades. Id say Norman Borlaug achieved more there then most humans could ever dream of.

I can see you are feeling very emotional and passionate about this issue, and I understand why.
But I didn't side with, or protected LP or Monsanto, or justified any of their actions or business practices, quite the opposite, so please don't direct your anger at me.

I became a plant researcher in order to make the world better, not for the money (trust me, there isn't much of it in the academia).
To me GMO is a powerful technological tool.
Like any other tool, it can be used for good, and can be used for bad.
Like cars, like explosives, like morphine.
They have a place in this world to be used where and when is appropriate and beneficial to mankind.
They shouldn't be used carelessly, selfishly and out of pure greed.

CRISPR isn't the go to way to eliminate genetic conditions in humans, you can do it much cheaper with smart screening, sequencing and family planning.

The benefits of CRISPR are in accurately introducing specific genetic sequences in the correct genomic contexts.
In humans it could be used to create a species of humans who will be less predisposed to cancer, to neuro-degenerative diseases, and even to certain infections.
But the ethics of such experiments will prevent it from happening I think.

I think we will see most CRISPR benefits in stem cell therapeutics, in livestock, and in agriculture.
CRISPR engineered humans will not be around for a very long time.

    This is the very problem.....
And if your little plans don't work out and you create a species of humans with more problems that you could have thought of...watcha gonna do then.... I'll leave the creation of a species of humans " to nature...not some scientist who's 8 years of school thinks he's god ".....you just said all I need to hear of your little enterprise....
why don't you experiment on your own kids.
not everyone thinks you changing shit that has evolved over millions of years is all that great an idea.
If it say GMO..i leave it there on the shelf....many do as well.
