figured id actually answer the second part of your question
since no one else chimed in

the amount of lst depends on your amount of vertical space , canopy level , and probably alot more that my stoner ass cant think of
most of all it depends on YOU
if your skill level/ experience with it is low then start simple just tie some branches down
then progress to tying the main stalk at around 5-7 nodes tie a loop around the main stalk at just above the 3rd node
poke a hole in the rim of the pot and and start to pull it down then lst the branches even them up and pull them down
more advanced would be tying the main stalk down around the edge of the pot

if the batteries would charge i'd be able to show you pics.. but i have all of mine tied down in a circle LST.. if you like to work in your garden (which i do) it's a good system...but like most i started first by just tie'n branches out of the way to allow more light.. just be careful.. but they will take some rough handeling.. i pin then down completely on their side now.. just do a little research once you see plants w/10-14 colas you'll be itchin to tie those little bitches down.. http://www.autoflowering-cannabis.com/tie-down-low-stress-trainin.html

2013-09-18 08.03.25.jpg2013-09-15 18.10.54.jpg this was the medium skill level i explained

The just tie the branches down " easy" lst i dont have any pics for i dont have enough vertical to just let them grow

this is the harder one
2013-09-17 21.31.17.jpg2013-09-17 21.30.45.jpg bad pics but get it to the edge of the pot using the medium skill level instructions
then after it reaches back towards the light like this one you tie a loop about 3-5 nodes away from the last loop
but far enough from the top to not damage the tiny shoots with the loop these tiny shoots are future branches
and pull the top down to another hole poked in the container i usually pull my line at a 45 degree angle so if there is rapid growth / stretch then the plant grows into slack not into a bind

then you need to train your bigger fans out of the way of the new tops tuck them or tie them down with like a bread tie and as your main stalk grows just keep pulling it back down when your branches finally stretch lst the branches apart
you can leave it like this or let it go after a few weeks into flower
