Hi guys...I apologize upfront for stealing the thread for a post (question). This was the most active thread I could find for the state of Maine. Here's what happened to me today:

I was driving North on 95, just entered Maine after the bridge (coming from NH). I got caught for speeding (55 BTW!). I also got caught with a gram of herb and a bowl. The speeding ticket was $185....okay. I got 2 other tickets that have no amount...only a court date and a phone number. When I looked at the penalties....Holy Shit! $10 of herb and a $20 bowl.....I am looking at 300 for the pipe and at least 300 for the gram. $600+......ouch to the max. That's huge money for me.

Do I have options, or does anyone know how this will play out? The court date is April.

Call the DA before the court date and see if you can get the paraphernalia charge rolled into the marijuana charge. I had number of possession charges in my 20s and was able to get the two charges rolled together once i figured out to ask about it. My problems were in Kennebec County and your problem is in York County so things might be different but it's worth a try.

Thanks for the advice. I'll call the courthouse in a couple weeks to see if they will combine the charges.

also, DA's love to trade fines for community service. and I would rather pay a fine i don't agree with by providing to my community rather than revenue to the people who gave me the fine..
