Mainlining and other issues.

So i just mainlined my plants for the first time ever and i Want to see if i did it correctly. Im tryin to have 8 colas, per what i read. I feel like i didnt but here are the pics.

Also, i put too many nutes in and had yellowing on the tips.....this is what i found on the leaves around the same plant....is that just more nute burn? ive already flushed so its just a matter of time for it to heal....

And one last thing....How come i can see my roots near the top of the soil.........and that fuzziness thats on the root mold or na?

Tell me what you guys think.

I mainlined my plants following Nugbuckets' tutorial for my first grow. The only thing I can see is that you may have vegged a bit longer than needed, I made my first cut after the fifth node developed. As far as the mainlining goes looks good so far, looks like you made the cut after the third node.

It says you have to top 3 times in order to have 8 main colas......I didnt, I only will be doing it twice, thats why i think i did it wrong..

Doesn't really look like nuts burn, looks like a cal def to me. You can top twice for 8 main colas following nebulas method for mainlining.

Man as if you chopped all that plant down to that. You could of just bent all those branches over and not set yourself back a month.
My advice is get a Metal halide bulb in there. Or a cmh, your internodes are way too far apart. Tighter the nodes, thicker the colas.
Roots are nothing to worry about.

The point of mainlining is to remove all the growth above and below the third node, resulting in a mainlined stem system rather than multiple levels of branching systems that the nutrients have to be distributed to. He could have scrogged, but that's an entirely different method. He did grow longer than needed before first topping which is why nugbuckets recommends topping early to avoid wasted energy on extra growth. Only a few fan leaves are left after the first topping.

One top is two main colas, two tops is four main colas (I think what you have now), three tops is 8. Each time you top the plant the main nodes double.
Ya i did grow a little longer than recommended, live and learn.

I have 4 tops. Because I have 2 tops on each side which = 8? Are the colas going to be growing out of those little bushes near the stem?? IF so, I have 8 of those on one plant, if i count them individually....If i count them as a pair I only have 4 on the whole plant

I guess im confused because i dont see how topping ...and then topping again is possible....If something is cut that means it stops growing right? IDK, first time grower and maybe not understanding the lingo

The best way I can explain it is that when you make the first top, you cut off the main stem and the two growth tips on the third node now become two main stems. When you top each of those 2 new main stems to their chosen nodes, you will have 4 growth tips total (2 each). This process keeps repeating itself, having to top an additional time on each main stem.

so then wouldnt 3 tops mean 6 main nodes? wouldnt you need 4 tops on each stem to have 8 colas??
Each cut doubles the tops.

1st cut = 2 tops
2nd cut = 4 tops, each cut doubles the tops.
3rd cut = 8 tops, each cut doubles the tops.

1st cut = (1 new top + 1 new top) = 2 tops

2nd cutting = 4, {2 top per original cut}. (Left side (1 cut = 2 new tops)) + (Right side (1 cut = 2 new tops)) = (2 new tops + 2 new tops) = 4 new tops

3rd cutting = 8, {2 tops per original cut}. (Left side (1 cut = 2 new tops + 1 cut = 2 new tops = 4 tops)) + (Right side (1 cut = 2 new tops + 1 cut = 2 new tops = 4 tops)) = 8 new tops

I hope this helps. 3 cuts will = 8 tops. Each cut doubles the tops.

Thank you

according to this I only need 2 on each side to have 8 main colas. If you scroll down......she has each side grow out to 4 nodes...tops at the 3rd, removes the second. That leaves only nodes 1 and 3 on each side. 4 tops total = 8 colas

Manifolding or topping creates a 'Y' on the stem you do it on. That "Y" will then produce 2 colas-repeat the process on those 2 stems and after another 'Y' forms there will be 4 colas..;.I hope you can figure it out from there. As the plant grows it will produce secondary branches on each main stem and those will also produce smaller colas.

If you plan on mainlining that other little plant, start now.

You have lost a lot of bud sites on your final plant by waiting so long to do this.Start when they're small.

And yes......you have nice fuzzy roots up top.

Ya i already have. that way everything has another month to recover/grow.

Ill get some pics and show you what i have, up close. I pretty sure i have what nebula has in that tutorial, but we will see.

You will end up making a manifold but unless you wanted to make some clones you have wasted a whole bunch of time growing a crown and then chopping it off.

Yes i realize i have wasted time on 2 of the plants. o well live and learn (my first grow) At least my 3rd plant was cut at the right time..

I have another month of growing...i should be ok. Ill get those pics up today and tag you. Im pretty sure what i have is right tho.
