Making pure from extract

Here are shots of a Dry Column Vacuum Chromatography (DCVC) run I just finished. The dispensary extract was a few grams of dark brown shatter that tested 60% nominal. The column was packed with silica gel 60 under high vacuum. The solvent gradient used was Hexane/Ethyl Acetate and started with pure hexane and progressed in 5% increments from pure Hexane to a mix of both to pure EA. Final column flush was pure EA. Different compounds elute from the column in the order of their relative polarity and can be visually traced easily. The cannabinoids elute well in front of the green chlorophyl band that develops. Fractions are collected one at a time into a test tube rack where they are grouped according to color match.

You can see clearly where each compound is as it journeys through the silica gel at different speeds. Past experience indicates the brown and yellows preceeding the green band contain the target compound I seek.

The fourth through seventh brownish tubes shown were selected and purged of solvent together under heat and high vacuum in a petri dish (shown). The dab marks from testing the vape of this purified medicine are shown in the petri dish photo.

Vaping confirms this to be nearly pure thc with trace terpenes present. A trace of flavor is apparent and is fruity but there is zero harshness. All gear shown was purchased from Amazon.
