So here's what I have learned using males, just use and take cuttings in the same fashion as a fem. A dude can be smoked to help determine potency...if you care. Honestly you have NO idea until progeny has been grown out. And there needs to be a number of varieties to hybridize. Reason for this is simply to determine what/if anything valuable, will be passed on to progeny.
NOT very helpful I know but it is a very individual evaluation that is required for a solid male.
haha all of this is only relevant when you plan to use him again.

Cut flowers from plant, dry, add fire and inhale... sorry smart ass comment. What would you care about smoking pollen? And you won't really. Before pods have opened. Really not overly important. Progeny is the only really true test.

Wow, they give out a lot of pollen, what is the best way to store pollen as I have some males (I think); Oh and I'm glad to hear some people do indeed keep their males and don't get rid of them

i keep mine in the freezer. these harvests above will be used asap. but my stored shit is about to be used so ill know better in a few weeks how the pollen held up for last 3 months
