Marijuana has been grown in a clandestine manner by a great many growers for a long time.

we need to look in a different direction....
rather than homogenized....or uniform...we should be using ... more of an experimental take on mmj horticulture practices
opening the growing field to everyone will produce new techniques and allow for the much needed experimentation
with the plant... but this time done without the grower having to be looking out over his or her shoulder due to
archaic and prohibitive laws (IMAGINE)

Sounds like a great way to get homogenized and shitty product.
Yes and no. Yes the gsc you buy won't be as good as the gsc you grew. But the odds of that, with so many breeders copies of strains, is slim anyway. At least this way when you find a strain that works for you, it will work for you everytime. No more good/bad batches.

My experience with people and this plant is that tastes are so incredibly varied it will be very difficult to do this and compete at the prices folks are talking about in a highly regulated market. BM will still dominate IMO. AFAIK it still is incredibly huge in Colorado and every other legal state - Washington it's exploded as far as I know.

There will be a market for more commercially done product, no doubt. But I really dislike the whole ideology that would do such a thing.. basically accepting less than excellent for convenience. I don't think that really should be necessary in this world but we are where we are...

Oh I agree. I'm not trying to argue for the quality of commercial product. Quite the opposite. And I agree the BM will dominate. However for medical pot to be a truly medical commodity, the product must be consistent and reproducible. Imagine if you took aspirin (or sleeping pills) and some of the pills had a dosage 2x that of the others. And some didn't work at all. More like roulette that medicine.

Thats sort of happening anyway...

I mean, so many new growers are starting to cross breed and every month there is a bunch of new strains in the seed banks that i never heard of, but im pretty sure its all the same strains just being cross bred into each other...

This is definitely happening too.

Also a problem if the original lines are simply going extinct.

for me weed is like a fine wine. folks who stop at 'good enough' don't get it. have a listen to Nicholas Joly. here's a guy who is working on a vineyard that's been growing for centuries, continuing the work of all those before him. for me there is always room for improvement, always something we can do or something we should not do to allow the plant to express more of it's true nature, more of it's essence. always something to learn from the plant.

by the way, what are YOU doing in this fight? just sitting back like an armchair quarterback?
all you do is insult and tell us how stupid we are...so what are you doing?
do you ever say anything that isn't condescending or insulting or even positive?

calling me a shill....how many suns are in your sky?? did you forget how involved i am in fighting for OUR RIGHT TO GROW?? but i guess how i would see fighting against something can be confused as being a shill...i guess i should ask-do you know what a shill is? if you do, you might want to look at calling me one...especially for LP's.

It seems that Dizzy is dizzier than we thought.
Come on Diz...time to join us not fight us. I see your potential...now realize it with us.
Your a soldier, I can see that, but we need your help more than your insults.
Everyone here has given you a fair chance to fit in...what the trouble then?
I bet I get no answer?
