Hey RIU..

Finally got some land about 5 acres.. Been clearing trees and cleaning it up.. Was planning on building a 40' Wide x 100' Long raised, hoop house.. I have 5ft long 4x4s, 1ft in the ground, 4ft vertically out. Original plan was to have a 4x4 post every 10 feet then run pvc accordingly. Was in the hardware store the other day, put 4 20' sections together with my partner and it bent like spaghetti... Although it would probably get more sturdy as the cross joints get connected every row of pvc, but, dont think the PVC will hold up for this. Now thinking about doing 2 separate houses. 50ft long and 20ft wide. Was going to use 1" pvc but may end up goin to 1 1/2" if needed.

Any experience on how big i can get away with on pvc. I wanted the hoop house to be raised a little. so i have the lower walls at 4ft. want to achieve a top center height of about 9 feet.

Any advice is wanted. Never built a hoop house of this size.

Look into cattle panels on a raised wall like you are interested in. Theyre not quite as wide, but they are VERY sturdy and can me made an infinite length.
