OK so I'm getting ready to order my new lights and everything the big grow room is about done...

Someone reccommended this site in a thread I was reading so I went there and HOLY CRAP everything is like 200 less than I was gunna pay. BUT I went to check out the MH lights and this is what I ran into.

400 Watt Metal Halide Bulbs

Which should I go for??? This is in the 400W region and I'm stumped I never knew there was different kinds... Should I go with the Standard operation ones??

All help is greatly thanked ahead of time!

The only one that pertains to us is the Conversion bulbs in that section. There is also a horticulture section on that site with a bunch of hrodiculture specific HIDs and stuff.

The other ones like the High Intinsity/Position Oriented while 10,000 lumes brighter are the wrong spectrum. Even the conversion isnt right but if your on a budget then it will save you on buying a second ballast.

CP this is kinda off topic but if your going to be running HID's won't your mom notice the jump in your power bill?

CP, just out of curiousity, how much are you paying for your HID system all together? are you buying it all from 1000bulbs.com? I checked out the site and it seems like you can get a much cheaper system at High Tech Garden Supply and you will be sure you are getting bulbs that are specifically meant for growing.

Well lets see here lots of questions to answer here...

4:20, thanks for the information we were looking for.

M.T., I have thought about that too but I have so many computers and electronics that she wouldn't know the difference... Also if it gets too high I'll just shell out some money every bill for her... I think she's aware I'm growing.. She found the last batch and got a little mad but didn't do anything...She really can't since I'm old ya know ha...

Splifman, I'm not sure how much altogether because I didn't know what MH light to buy. But now I'll have to check out the 250 MH for veg instead thansk to 4:20.. I'm not sure if I'm getting them from that site for sure. what I'm doing is searching the internet high and low daily to find the lowest prices on everything....

If I forgot to answer your question I'm sorry ... I forgot it.. haha. Just ask it again and I'll get to you not sure if I'll be on much the next 2 days since it's my birthday tomorrow and party saturday BLAZING THAT DAY AWAY. But I am going to update some pics for someone who asked me to so I might be on a little tomorrow.

The 'standard operation' Metal Halide bulb is as it says, a standard sized bulb that operates in any position - ie vertically or horizontally.

The 'reduced envelope' Metal Halide bulb refers specifically to the size and shape of the 'outer bulb quartz casing', which can be a different shape or size to your 'standard operation' bulb.

The 'position orientated' Metal Halide bulb is again as it says - designed specifically for operating in certain positions ie vertical or horizontal.

The 'conversion' Metal Halide bulb is a bulb that works in a MH ballast but outputs a light spectrum similar to that of a HPS system. The outer bulb looks like a Metal Halide but the inner arc tube is similar to that of a HPS bulb.

Norton that's kind of funny. haha. I'm just happy I made it to 20 haha. I'm probably not as old as you (not calling you old either)

Babygro, Thank you for clearing the MH light situation up for us all.
