I was told that they feed the worms dog food re the cheaper bags of castings.

Not sure if you care. Just an FYI

I buy em local!:lol: I wanna say they're like 4$ a bag but I should see what they feed em'

I also don't use NEAR as much as alot of guys. From my reading a little goes a long way; and when I used a high ratio once, my plants sucked.

Man I hope that's not the case. About 25% of my soil mix is EWC. The guys over on IC suggest going up to as much as 1/3. I know you do have to go extra heavy on the perlite or whatever you're using because the castings can really compact the soil mix.

Did you mix in a lot of aeration when you used a lot of EWC?

No I didn't, and I think I it was a combination of not enough aeration and an improper mix, rather than too much ewc. I'm sure if the Isee guys are telling you to go for it then it is good. That's where our resident organimasters got their recipes if I'm not mistaken. They have a really good thread on Lacto-B also. Gotta hop back over there soon Just took down 3 plants for a total of just under 10 oz which is for me a real nice yield and the rest are looking about the same.

Ohh good. You had me a little worried.

I mixed in 25% perlite along with the 25% EWC so I shouldn't run in to aeration issues (hopefully) along with the other amendments.

The worm bin is kicking ass too. They've already torn through 5lbs+ of veggie/fruit scraps and rabbit poop in the past week. This is so simple I'm kicking myself for not doing it sooner.

something so satisfying about using your kitchen and plant scraps to make plant food. I can't wait to start using mine, looks like it needs maybe a month or two still. The worms are staying though, thats a +.

Rising moon has a really good how to/pics of the setup he/she? uses on the organic no till thread. using the same model pretty much.

That rabbit poop is supposed to be good. I pick it up from my yard and throw it in my bin.

Can't wait to try a dandelion topdress and some nettle tea soon.

No offense at all homeless, just sharing my experiences. I usually get 3-5 a plant out of 3gal dirt pots.. I hope you were talking sativa dom strains lmao. Before I took down my flower room for remodel I tested 3 5gal dirt pots an pulled 8 each off 2 of the plants an 8.5 off the last. strain was Pineapple Express from g13. None the less I bet yours was some super dank!

Are you still using M3, I am really interested in organic grows and am getting a little confused on what to try. I can't make my own super soil because of lack of space. So, I would appreciate your input. Thanks

M3 - We have tested it for and with our grow classes.
We figure its about a 2 month feed; Thus it takes some getting adjusted to using the product, as with most all organic soils. Layering and topping off the pots with fresh soil seems to correct some of the lags around the end of the second month. M3 supplies (dont quote me, it may be a seperate company) a fert with the same ingredients as are in the soil called "Papa's Perfect Poo". (avialable in some stores; Mighty Grow in Jackson County MI is one that I am aware of) It can also be used to correct deficiency. Some strains (skunks as we have seen) "gas out" this soil sooner than others. We have learned that a month and a half veg works well, then we transplant into a final container with fresh m3 soil and then give a week longer in veg with the new soil before flowering, seems to work quite well. Our plants fade around the 5th week or so, showing N deff first (yellowing from the bottom up). Subcool of TGA calls this "the fade", and as organic gardeners we understand this to be a good thing and similar to a natural fall season change or for nute users "flushing".
We have had the final product (bud) tested at a two labs here in MI, and the Vortex came back with 21%THC and 4% CBD, tested lower in Super Soil...? Both passed with flying colors as far as organics go however, there was a comment left that the vortex could have been flushed a week longer... Considering there is no flushing being done and water is used only, its likely that the transplant from vegg to new soil for flowering, could have been done a week later allowing the plant to strip some of what was left in the first pot.
We just did an outdoor project were we made Subcools Super Soil out of M3. (the recipie calls for 8 bags of quality soil.)
We understand that it may be a bit potent, so layering was done and the bottom of each hole is the "super M3 mix" the middle is a 50/50 and the top is all m3. The plants went in a few weeks ago and I was down there to check on them and I have to say.... HOLY WOW!!!

BTW, a 3' x 3' hole at 2' deep took about 8 bags of M3 soil.
