Mini-split for 8x8 room

Is a mini split for an 8x8 overkill? I flower in only 5x8 of it. The room has no windows. I live in SE Michigan. The room gets pretty warm in the summer. It gets cold in the winter but I have a gas heater just outside of the room and the temps were ok over the winter. Should I spend the bucks and get one...with the goal of keeping the temps at an optimum at all times? How much more do you think it would cost a month to run on average?

The important question is how many watts are you trying to cool. I have the Ideal Air 12,000 BTU 120v Mini split with heat pump and it has don't it's job cooling over 2600 watts of COB leds and a 750w dehumidifier. The xtreme cool temps might be a problem though. Check manufacturer for recommendations.

It's installed. The unit operates great but the app and wifi signal from the machine not so much. The signal drops all the time and the app won't allow programming of different temps at different times. Oh well. The unit is quiet. Very quiet.

Keep an eye on the indoor blower wheels, they get dirty and they won't move the air. Keep the fan speed up high, it'll keep condensate from forming on the wheels.... Which leads to mold.enjoy I'm a tech
