MOD 420 is a universal frame for assembling a COB lamp with hundreds of different configurations.
Developed by @Bobby from Mi and myself.

Bobby's first design was a 8 COB frame. Mod 8

We redesigned it to accommodate 4 cobs

The final version of Mod 4 comes in 2 pieces can be can be joined to make a complete 4 cob frame. The COB distance(center to center) is 12" . We considering a 14" option

Compatibility List

Heatsinks

Mod 4 is compatible with 105mm, 120mm and 140mm PIN Heatsinks
105 - is suitable for under driving cobs to 35 Watts or lower
120 - is suitable for driving cobs to 50 Watts or lower
140 - is suitable for driving cobs to 80 Watts or lower

Theses recommendations are on the conservative side and no air movement. You can dissipate more power as most grow spaces have a decent airflow.

COBS
These heatsinks come predrilled for popular COBS. The COB that can be used depends on the Heatsink used.

Currently SST 105 and SST 120 is available in 2 options
Option 1: Compatible with Bridgelux Vero 29 and Cree 3590
Option 2: 35mm spacing Compatible with Cree CXB/CXA 3070, Citizen CLU048, Bridgelux V22, Bridgelux Vero 13, Bridgelux Vero 18. All ideal COB holders with 35mm screw spacing listed here and here.

Currently SST 140 available in 1 option
Option 1: Compatible with Bridgelux Vero 29 and Cree 3590

Driver

12" frame - This option has center to center distance of COB LED of 12".
14" frame - This option has center to center distance of COB LED of 14"

The 12" frame is compatible with 3 most popular COB Drivers.

Optics
Optics help you increase the light utilization by ensuing you get maximum Photons delivered towards your canopy.
These heatsinks come predrilled for popular Optics. The Optics that can be used depends on the Heatsink used.

All Heatsinks (SST 105, SST120, SST140) are predrilled for LEDiL Angelina Reflectors.

SST120 are predrilled for popular 100mm glass lens. Glass Lens from different suppliers may not be the same. Verify that the diagonal mounting positions are 112mm before buying the lens.
100mm glass lens are available in various configurations. Some lens may not have enough depth for COB holder and may be incompatible with your COB holder. KB-HB100-80 is compatible under Ideal holders.

SST140 are predrilled for Khatod Silicone Optics. These Type V distribution produces a circular distribution that has the same intensity at all angles.
This distribution has a circular symmetry and provides an evenly distributed light. Gives a very even coverage.
Compatible with Vero 29.
Compatible with Cree 3590 using Bender+Wirth 449 holder. Ideal holder will not work with this optics.

Wow, very cool & well done. You guys have done your homework lol. May I suggest the option to piggyback from unit to unit?
If you had (2) 8 cob units, that would be 4 plugs you would have to find outlets for, or a multi adapter and extension cords vs 1 plug if you power from unit to unit. I know how unorganized and cluttered my rooms can get when I begin doing this with multiple light sets that dont have the option of piggyback.
 
Quick overview of build process. All holes are 4.5mm other than kohtad mounting holes. This is because the heatsinks mount with 4mm screws, 1 size screw for the whole build.

Mount driver and junction box and run driver cords into junction box.


You can connect the AC power cord and dimmer at this time using the wago connectors supplied with the junction boxs.


Im leaving out mounting the COBs to the heatsinks as there is plenty of good info already available.

Once your COBs are mounted it's time to install the heatsinks on the frame.


Connect the COB wires and put the lid on the junction box.

They do look very nice. But at $80 for just 2 half pieces($65 & $16 shipping), I think I'll be sticking to alum angle myself. :/
On a big fixture build of say, 16 cobs, which we see quite often here nowadays, we're talking about adding literally $400 in extra costs. (Including the diamond shaped connection piece which couldn't be less than $20.) DIY, in my eyes, is to save money.

Not everybody wants to completely diy man, that's why light builders exist

Personally I think it's a pretty good idea, and should definitely help some people out

No doubt it will help people! I never said otherwise. I'm just stating my opinion and getting a price on the thread here so people have an idea what to expect.

Thanks for your input. I wish I could make them cheaper also, might start quoting shipping instead of flat rate, could save a few bucks. I'm also going to add hardware and a hanger with no cost increase. This is still cheaper than open source 1 off's, thats why we wanted to try this out.
