Molasses lowers PH

Hello RIU,

Anyone use molasses and notice how much it lowers PH. Just added it to my nute solution and im having a hard time telling what the PH level is. Im using just a regular PH kit from the fish store, and since the molasses made the solution so dark its kinda hard to read. Any tips on other ways to get a better reading, i dont have the cash for an electronic PH meter. Also... from 6 to 8 weeks how much bigger can i expect the buds to swell? Is this the time that they will start to put on size?

Thanks a lot RIU!

ive never noticed mollasses lowering ph. i use it throught the entire grow with no problems. depending onb strain you will see noticalble difference in size of buds in the last few weeks.

if you want, you could use baking soda as an alternative for lowering your Ph. Use lil by

If im not mistaked baking soda contains sodium bicarbonate and it can be used to raise PH however since it's straight salt I would be careful as to not cause a toxic salt build up.

ya, i used brer rabbit and it drop the ph a shit load, ph of tap was 7.2, table spoon or two it dropped the ph down to 5.4, was blown away, i had just received my ph meter off ebay for 25 shipped (milwaukee). but when i make alfalfa/kelp/blackstrap tea its around 6.2-6.5, been right on dot. i think, first grow, going 100% organic next grow.

About a tablespoon per gallon... I just sampled some of my grow that was done with heavy molasses and it turned out very smooth, and very mellow tasting... but still kicks like a mule...:fire: chronic was the strain....:leaf:

its all bagseed for me but I've come across a sativa/hybrid and I'm waiting to see especially how it affects that, did it make it fruity or during that last weeks of your flowering affect leaf color. All feedback is immensly appreciated.
