Ok guys I have read and searched and read and search and its got to the point where I really dont know WTF I should be looking for...

Most of it is coming down to the UV/IR or NM's

some lights I looked at have red / blue UV and IR with some white at 3000K ( i have read on here white should be around 10,000K)

Some have different NM's of red and blue no UV or IR.

are UV and IR essential? Im looking for using the same light

for example:

240w LED
Red: 660nm & 630nm, Blue: 450nm & 460nm, UV: 420nm, IR: 730nm, White: 3000k @ 8:4:2:2:1:1:2

150 watt LED
Wavelength: Red (620~630nm, 650~660nm) Blue (430~440nm,450~475nm)

Notice no UV or IRˆˆˆ

200 watt LED
Wavelength: Red (620~630nm, 650~660nm) Blue (430~440nm, 450~475nm) Infra Red (730nm) White (3000k)

What is ideal for veg and growth.

Thanks

area 51, hans panel, and apache are amongst the best out there. No need to be an electrical engineer...this is the general consensus.

IR infra red should not be used at all other than heating seeds to germ perhaps? UV/A&b are used by me for the last 2 weeks of bud, simply leave your plants in the sun, as using UV A/b is just to dangerous for the grower in todays small and confined grow rooms, you wanna stumble around with cataracts or even half blind, as a result of using uv in your grow system is just dumb, use the sun to enhance the uv effects on your trics, forget the bulbs , in fact is not complusory at all, until you got a few grows in, forget it, you got more important fish to fry ...lol

I use a 400 watt MH for vegging and a 400watt HPS forf lowering. Works great for 4plants in 3gal Smart pots and agrow tent.

I see some of the major brand have UV/blue.

Is there a way around this?

I run a 270 watt LED I got off eBay. I have similar concerns as you. Only uses about 200 watts and my tent only hits 85 degrees after running all day and a small fan moving air.

Less than 200 dollars and very quiet. Its a standard 9 band using 3 watt diodes. They are all over eBay made by the same Chinese sweatshop 😂

Most have shipping warehouses in the US and UK and China so you don't wait 45 days to get it overseas.

At 5 weeks flowering a bushy indica I am having awesome results. Hairs and trichs all over the place. Not sure I'll get commercial results but this is for my own personal enjoyment.

The pic is at week 4 flower. Just so you can see they can get the job done well!

For me, in the UK at this time of year, the added HEAT is an advantage.
I have to spend for energy to CREATE EXTRA HEAT during lights out.
Come the summer months this will change
and keeping on top of heat build up will be an issue.

LED's are defo the future
but, at the present, there's just too much confusion, misinformation and dishonesty from many of the manufacturers/sellers.
You're lucky if you can ask a straightforward question about an LED and
narrow down the answers to the ten most likely!

PLUS - If you live outside of the US
the problems multiply because we have less choice
(unless you can afford what amounts to a 150% surcharge
for taxes and shipping costs???).

If you do 'learn your shit' with LED's
it's doubtful you'll ever move on to HID's.
The opposite usually applies
of HID users moving to LED's.

But some quickly move back!

So do your homework well
and post your experiences for others to learn from.
It would be helpful if you did.
