After following this thread I realize I don't know shit about morels. I was under the impression that I should look for them in the fall. I live in the rocky mountains, there is still snow everywhere but the lower valleys. My question is.... I live at 6100ft (when the snow is gone I can be close to 11000 in an hour's drive) should I be looking for morels in wooded areas by the river, down low? Or when the snow melts up higher? I know people find them around here, I just don't know any of these people to get tips from.

Well, I'd be looking where it's kinda like spring, so I'd say down low bro. Then once snow melts in the higher elevations I'd look there also. Locate dead or dying Elm trees,Oak trees, and Sycamore trees also. Around their drip line (base) of those trees. Also if there is any Apple orchards around I'd check those also if you can get access without being shot at.... just make sure they haven't sprayed any damn chemicals on them bro... that would suck to locate some Morels all to find out they was sprayed with a chemical!! If you need any further information, feel free to holler at me. Don't mind helping at all. (:

That's what I was thinking, knit of a extended season moving up as the snow disappears. Are there certain temps I should be looking for as I move up?

Yeah, I'd say when the ground warms up to around 50 to 60 degrees, and night time temps go no lower than 40 you'll do just fine.

Whats up guys? Hope everyone is doing good. Been busy with work here myself. Ughhh.... anyways I decided to go out yet again for a Morel hunt and scored another smaller batch. (: I'd say I have atleast 1 to maybe 2 more trips before they start dying off. Then back to the wait game until next spring!!! :wall: I'd really Like to look into growimg Some indoors. I've read somewhere that it's yet to be done because it's hard for a grower to match & mimic the exact prime growing conditions for a Morel... that info I read could be old news though. Although I still have yet to hear of anyone being able to grow any indoors......

Uhh... I do believe you are thinking about that 19 yr old young buck with the pipe dream of starting his own seed bank without the 1st hint of breeding/growing... lol
That's funny. That kid has another thread going.
