most plants under 400 watter?

whats the most that you guys have put under your 400w light? on my next grow im gonna do 25 plants. rows of 5x5. have any of you done even more plants under just one 400w?

As long as your keeping your 25 plants in a 3x3' area...or at the most a 4x4' area....it doesn't really matter how many. A 400watt light will not perform much outside of that.

25 plants under a 400 in a 3x3' area would be a sog setup. Don't veg for more than a week...and squeeze as many as you can in the area.

4 plants per square ft. with 3x3 footprint will give ya 36 plants and a not too far fetched SOG setup...


even if you're just getting a 1/4 ounce off each plant you'll still be ending up with a 9 ounce harvest... which is more than .5g/w and not too bad...

do less plants, get bigger buds and focus on quality more! get some nice buds

and i'm not sure if you're ever seen 36 quarter ounce buds all piled together... but its lovely =]

I learned how to Lumberjack in the Sahara forest. It was really easy. I had a good teacher. It was really interesting. I watched him work sometimes. We could never figure it out, always slow and steady. We tried to match his output, never took breaks, and still he always cut more wood, took breaks etc. SO finally I asked him how the hell he did it. His reply stunned me.
"when I take breaks, you don't notice what I do? I sharpen my ax."
Sometimes you gotta sharpen your ax. We are not saying it can't be done, we just don't think he will get maximum results without sharpening the ax. VV

I personally think 12-16 plants max under a 400 watter but more can be squuezed Id say do 10 slightly larger and go for 2 oz per plant and get the lb or so of less plants

It isn't important how many plants....it's how much light each plant is receiving. You can flower your plants from seed and end up with anywhere from 7 to 30 grams for each plant. I have run 32 plants in 1/2G bags in a SOG setup, under a 400. Works like a charm. Ranged anywhere from 10 - 20 grams per plant. That was a few years ago, and I'm a much better grower now using coco instead of peat which gives much better results,

The key is hardly any veg time...have air movement below the canopy....and keep the rest of the environment in check...and you could pull off a pound or close to it. Thats over 1 gram per watt.

I just got tired of keeping up with all the clones to replenish the SOG.

Try one. Pulling one out of a 3 gallon pot that yielded >4 oz and crowded for space. LST for a low profile candleabra tree with multiple top colas from pruning. Seed starts germed to bud in 81 days. Realizing a 3 gall pot is >10" diameter means pot space only allots for a maximum of 9 plants per 3x3 light print for a 400W. Thats with no bushing. Jam them all into 1 gallons, and your 6in diameter sog will have just enough room for 36 pots under 1 400w. So id prolly go for 4. Thats what i am going to try now, I figure if with a long veg time from seed starts giving 4 oz per 1 plant under 1 light, 4 clones under 1 light vegged less should produce same per light ~1 oz per plant per 3 gallon with ~6 in radius bush overlap. So the 1 plant max, which still isnt as good as it coul;d be (outdoor, etc)

i've done this before, but i did about 50 plants with a 400watt on a light mover covering 2 4x4 trays. One mistake i made, first off when the light move to the other side then the other side isn't getting any light, and this is because you have to put your light close because its only a 400 watt, any farther you'll lose out on lumens. When i did this i got a total of about almost half a lb. I also grew 1 plant from seed with 4 branch(i top it and got rid of the weaker branches) and got a total of a lil bit over a QP off this one seeded plant from the same light. HOPE THAT HELPS!

one plant per square foot is how i think. so under a 400 in a 3 x 3 9 max plants. anything closer is a sog but i can't really comment on that becuz ive never done it. but at 9 plants u could veg em for 4- 6 wks andflower for 8 - 9 weeks and pull off 2 oz per plant. thats with the rest of the environment being kosher.

here i grew 20 plants under a 400hps 4x4x8 room. not to bad for first grow, 8oz.

the thing i dont like about sog is the time limits u get when it comes to law enforcement. i mean why take 50 plants jam em all into a small space and get a half oz per plant = 25 oz. about 1.5 lbs. when ur looking at fed time at 50 plants in most cases. u can take 12 plants in 16 square ft and get 2 oz per plant(24 ozs) and get the same amount and if u catch a case ur way under the limits??
